Kayla's POV

Ethan being here isn't something easy to explain.

We aren't friends.

We aren't dating.

Because eww I will never do that.

We are nothing.

Well, let's just see how this goes.

I try to avoid all my family members as Ethan and I try to get something to drink.

We walk across the yard to where the coolers were at and get a water bottle.

"Here," I say handing Ethan a water bottle.

"Thanks, babe," he says with a smirk.

"Shut up," I say annoyed.

As we begin to walk away, my aunt stops us half way.

"Kayla you are looking so beautiful today," my aunt Josie says as she pecks my cheek.

"Aww thank you, aunt Josie," I smile.

My aunt furrows her eyebrows as she looks behind me clearly looking at Ethan.

Why does everyone keep doing that?

"Is this your boyfriend you been hiding from us Kayla?" she chuckles.

"No," Ethan and I say in unison.

We both look at one another in amazement and then turn back to look at my aunt.

Her eyes were wide in shock as we both slightly frightened her.

"God you teenagers get so defensive these days,"  she chuckles.

"He is only a friend aunt Josie," I say eyeing Ethan.

"Well, you two would make a good couple just saying," she says as she walks away.

Both Ethan and I pretend to laugh and try to make this less awkward between us.

"I have to get you out of sight before anyone assumes anything else," I say dragging him by the hand towards the entrance of the house.

"Kay Kay," Sadie calls from behind me.

I turn around and let go of Ethan's hand as she wobbled towards me.

"Little Sadie," I joyfully say as I pick her up and spin her around.

She giggles happily and then I set her back down.

I smile down at her but then quickly remember about Ethan.

I turn to look at him and see a soft smile on his lips.

Sadie hides behind my legs as she still didn't know who the tall figure in front of her was.

"Who's that," she innocently asks in her baby voice.
