I snapped my head behind me to see what had frightened her so badly. A hooded figure was leaning against a tree a few feet away, looking at us. I began to feel sick and my heart was skipping beats. The figure stood up straight and began walking towards us. Caroline quickly stood and made a run for it. I was too frozen to move.
"What the fuck Emma, come on!" she screamed over her shoulder. I couldn't move as the figure got closer and closer. My life began flashing before my eyes. I didn't want to think of the worst but i couldn't help myself.
As the large man came into the street light, my eyes met his face. It was scarred and bloody, he looked as if he had been mauled.
I finally found the strength to move but as I started to run, so did he. The wind was slapping my face as I ran for my life down the narrow path. My whole life was flashing before my eyes. Finally the man had caught my wrist and I let out a loud scream. The guys dirty hand covered my mouth and I still muttered muffled screams as I began kicking.
I was being ripped, harshly down the path as I was fighting to the best of my ability. I was screaming for someone to help me, though I knew no one would hear. I was a goner for sure. It all went black and my body went numb. I couldn't feel myself punching and kicking anymore. Until suddenly I was tumbling to the concrete.
As I opened my eyes, I spotted the guy being beaten. My eyes traveled to my hero. It was Harry. My jaw dropped, why was he helping me? Wasn't he supposed to hate me?
I didn't realize I had been sobbing until I felt my now wet cheeks.
"chill man, i'm just the deliverer," the guy uttered in between the fist connecting with his face.
"I don't give a fuck," Harry said through gritted teeth. I gasped in horror as the guys face was bloodier than before. I ran over to Harry, tugging him backwards. I fell back down on my ass and he had finally stopped.
"Now get the hell out of here, right fucking now," he commanded and the guy obliged as he stood and ran. I now had my head in my hands sobbing.
"Hey, hey, hey, calm down," he said in the calmest tone, bending down next to me. I lifted my head to look up at him, his emerald eyes staring back at me.
"Are you okay sunshine?" he questioned but I couldn't utter a word, I simply nodded my head yes.
"Well come on, let's get you home," he nodded, offering his hand. I pushed it away.
"You're not the boss of me," I whined, standing on my own.
"Okay, what the fuck. I just saved your life and you want to be a bitch?" he huffed.
"If you can be an ass, so can I," I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Let's just go," he rolled his eyes. There it was, the Harry I had met two hours ago. Brooding and a total asshole.
"No, I have to find my friend," I replied, turning in the other direction.
"Oh, you mean the one who sped off and left you here? Sure," he scoffed, rolling his eyes. How could she just leave me here? She was supposed to be my friend.
"How did you find me?" I uttered, my voice hoarse from screaming.
"I was walking and heard you bloody screaming your lungs out," he shook his head. I slowly nodded as we walked the rest of the way to my house in silence.
"Who the hell was that?" Harry quickly jeered.
"Hell if I know. Weird guys roam this town all the time it seems. I mean look at you," I teased, smirking in his direction.
"Funny, real fucking funny," he huffed, nodding his head. I burst into laughter and clasped my hand over my mouth; I hated my laugh.
"Damn, who's the weirdo now?" he used my own joke against me. That's not how this worked.
"Shut up, you ass," I smiled, rolling my eyes. Maybe Harry wasn't so bad after all. Maybe I could get used to his company.
...
After minutes of walking my house came into view. I sighed in relief as the lights were off. My parents had gone to bed. I was so ready to move out next year, to be free from their tight grip. I felt as if I was suffocating in this house.
I looked nervously at Harry as he stared up at my window.
"Is that a fucking rope ladder?" he cried at the brink of laughter.
"Maybe, what's it to you," I scoffed, tip toeing over to the ladder. I grabbed hold and took my first step. The ladder started wobbling and I lost my balance, falling backwards into the shrubs.
I popped my head up to see Harry curled over in laughter.
"Yeah go on, laugh it up," I sighed, brushing my pants off and pulling leaves from my hair. I angrily climb up the rope and waved to Harry after i got inside. I heaved the ladder up and when I looked back out the window, Harry was gone. He had a knack for disappearing.
I took off my jacket and lied it on the chair next to my closet. My eyes were suddenly heavy and my bed was calling out to me. I made extra sure the window was locked and quickly ran down the stairs checking all the doors and windows. Just to be safe. I didn't want to show Harry I was scared out of my mind, but I was. Terrified even. Who the hell would be trying to kidnap me.
I didn't want to think of the worse but I couldn't cease the thoughts that sprung into my head.
(Hi....it's been a while. How are ya? xx)
