We had been parked at the gas pump and Harry had asked me if I wanted anything. I kindly asked for a Vanilla Coke and some M&Ms with a smile. He simply nodded and made his way inside. I sat nervously playing with my thumbs and I awaited in the cold silence for Harry's return.

Soon enough Harry comes out of the doors with two bags in his hands and a frown on his face. In an ill mood again I see. I was scared to see the outcome of the storm that was heading my way.

As he approaches the car door he quickly yanks it open, jumps in, and slams it closed. I cringed at the loud slam and compassionately looked over at the troubled boy. What was his deal? Why must he have such an attitude problem?

I was quickly handed the bag of candy and drinks without a word and I hastily thank him. He says nothing but quickly drives away.

"What's wrong?" I muttered scared of what was to come.

"I don't think it's any of your business," he grumbles knuckles turning white with his tight grip on the steering wheel.

"Fine. I don't even care," I counter and I swear I hear him chuckle softly but maybe not. I do care though. I want to know what goes on inside his troubled head.

Our conversation was quickly cut short by the ringing of Harry's phone. An unknown number flashes across the screen. Harry quickly denies the call and continues driving.

The number calls again and he declines for a second time. Who on earth could it be that he doesn't want to talk to so badly?

The silence continued for a while until he broke the silence.

"So, where do you want me to take you?" He sighs and I panic. I hadn't thought that far.

"I- umm....jus- just bring me to my friends house if you don't mind," I smiled and he nodded as I gave him the first directions. I quickly texted Caroline to tell her what was going on and she said I could stay at her place. I know my parents are going to be pissed when I don't come home tonight but frankly, I don't care.

The drive was short and soon enough we were pulling into Caroline's drive. I let out a breath I had no idea I was holding. The silence and awkwardness in the car was almost overbearing. Caroline was waiting outside for me and I waved at her briefly before turning to face Harry.

"Thank you so much for the ride. I just think-"he quickly interjects.

"Yeah, Yeah, just get out of the car. I have places to be," he rudely remarks and I feel a stab into my heart. I had only been trying to be nice to him and he wanted to treat me like trash.

I quickly grab my things and nearly jumped from his car. I couldn't stand looking at him for one more second. He was the most brooding and rude person I have ever met. If he doesn't want me around that's fine. I won't come around him anymore. Ever. I stalk up to Caroline's door with a heavy heart.

"Who was that?" She gushed, looking to me in surprise.

"The biggest dick I've ever met," I growl, rolling my eyes.

"Well, that dick is fine as hell," she laughs and I push her aside, walking into her house. Everyone just needs to leave me the hell alone.

"I didn't mean to upset you Emma. It was just a joke," she smiles, putting her hand on my shoulder.

"I'm just tired of everyone's bullshit today. I'm sorry for acting like a bitch. Thank you for letting me stay here," I sigh and show her the best smile I could. She simply nodded and made her way to the kitchen and I followed close to her.

"So, who is that guy anyway?" She questions, pulling a can of sprite from the fridge.

"My parents have made friends with the neighbors and that's their oh so wonderful son, Harry," I roll my eyes and she giggles.

"So he's available?" She asks, leaning over the counter to look at me. I feel a tinge if jealousy. Why do I feel this way? He has been nothing but rude to me but I somehow see something in him.

"Oh, uh, no. He has a girlfriend," I lie. The last thing I need if for my best friend to date that soul sucker.

"Oh." She sighs, taking a sip of her drink.

"Let's go out tonight," she offers and I cringe. I just wanted to curl up in her bed and watch movies all night.

"I don't know Car," I sigh, besides my parents would flip out if they found out.

"Come on Emma! Your parents will never know," she assures me with and smile. I can't resist her persuasive, sneaky look.

"Fine. Fine! Let's go out," I give in, throwing my hands up in defeat.

"Yay!" She jumps, clapping her hands together like a small child. I laugh and start running toward the stairs.

"Bet I can beat you there!" I yell, halfway up the stairs and I hear her groan and start running.

I throw myself on to her bed and let out a sigh.

"I win!" I call as she enters the room. "I think this means you have to curl MY hair tonight," I smile and wink at her.

"Ugh, fine," she sighs as she starts searching for her curling iron.

After two hours of makeup, hair, and choosing clothes, I'm ready to go. I'm dressed in a short, hip hugging, maroon dress and black heels. I pulled my hair back from my face and applied my makeup.

Caroline looked beautiful in her black dress. She had been so much prettier and better built than me.

"What's wrong?" She questions with concern.

"Oh. Nothing, let's just go," I smile and she nods grabbing her keys.
