Mae's P.O.V.
We walk back down the steps to where the trees and rock lining the beach have casted a growing shadow that doesn't quite meet the clear water. "Okay, Mae Mae. Just so you know, when I was researching your powers, it said online that you have to sync with the darkness in you," Tavi tells me.
"The darkness in me?" I confirm.
"I think Tavi means you have to think about something that gets you really pissed off. Something terrible that you've experienced in your life. The time you felt like you were so angry you could explode," Lee clarifies as Tavi nods.
"Um... okay." I think for a moment. I close my eyes and picture my dull childhood. How little I got accomplished. I think of my brothers and the perfection they have in my parents' eyes. Samar graduating high school as valedictorian and marrying his Indian high school sweetheart at eighteen. Aarav graduating high school with four athletic scholarship offers from prestigious colleges all over the country, but picking UCLA to stay close to home.
Suddenly I open my eyes and our entire sector of the beach is covered in pitch blackness. I see through it all, though. My night vision must automatically activate in darkness. My detention squad stumbles through the darkness.
"I think I did it," I laugh. I cover my mouth with my hand. I get in touch with my brightness and dissolve the block of darkness. My friends look at me like I'm a crazy person. I put my hands together, when I bring them apart, I have a huge sword of darkness. I twirl and watch it disappear at my command.
"Yo, that's so cool!" Tavi exclaims.
"That was surprisingly easy for you," Gray chuckles.
I shrug with a smile from ear to ear.
"Lee's turn," Gray says.
A/N: What do you think? Another very short one and it probably would have been grouped with the last one, but I couldn't imagine writing this chapter in Tavi's P.O.V. This is also a good chapter. The next one is okay, I guess. I'm not gonna hype it up, cuz I'm not a big fan of it. Anywho, love to you and everything you do <3 (I said that like an owl in my head.)
