Chapter 2

“Para!”

A tricycle halted in front of Daniel. Classes had just finished. Now, he was on his way to drop off his mom’s lunch.

“Salamat Manong”, Daniel said, patting the driver on the shoulder. After telling the driver where he was headed, Daniel hopped into the tricycle and popped his headphones on. He thought that he might as well listen to music along the way.

“Bakit may mga Justin Bieber songs sa iPod ko? Si Magui talaga”, Daniel mumbled while scratching his head [he seemed to do that a lot]. He then skipped to the next song.

And I wanna be that someone for you…

Daniel had stumbled upon AJ Rafael’s Emma Watson. The lyrics struck him; they perfectly summed up his admiration for Kathryn Bernardo. He got so carried away with the song’s story that he started to sing along.

“BUT IF YOU WOULD NOTICE ME, I’LL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING THAT YOU ARE MISSING, CAN I BE THE ORDINARY GUY FOR YOUUUUUU?”

Not only was Daniel singing at the top of his lungs, but he was even playing the air-guitar. The tricycle driver was quite disturbed. “Sayang… Napaka gwapong bata pero mukhang may sayad ata”, the driver muttered under his breath.

“Ano bang problema mo, manong? Nasa tono naman ako ah”, Daniel argued.

Before their conversation got any more heated, they reached their destination – the university where Princess and Iwas being shot.

“Oh, eto, bayad mo”, Daniel said as he slapped the pay into the driver’s hands. “Wag kang magalala manong. Next time, magjejeepney na lang ako.” Daniel stepped out of the tricycle and continued on his way. Suddenly, Daniel felt a vibration from his pocket – he got a text from his brother JC. He read the text aloud…

Kuya, could you pick up Magui and Carmela after school? May date pa kasi ako eh. Salamat brad…

“Si JC talaga…”, Daniel said shaking his head in disapproval. He then looked at his watch to see how much time he had left before his sisters would get out of school. It was already 3:00 and his sisters would be waiting for their sundoby 4. Daniel had to hurry. He sprinted onto the university grounds, hoping he would be able to find his mom soon.

As he ran through the school, many girls stop and stared. Some tried to get his attention by saying “hi”, while others whispered amongst themselves, talking about how gwapo Daniel was. No one could deny his appeal and charm.

Even though he was drawing a lot of attention, Daniel stayed focused on trying to find his mom. He even started running backwards, thinking this would help him scan the area better.

While Daniel was hard at work looking for his mom, a Mikay-Jao scene was being taped as well.

“3, 2, 1, action!” Kathryn/Mikay began walking towards Enrique/Jao. Little did she know, a frantic son was running in her direction… Luckily, Enrique was able to spot Daniel and notice that he wasn’t looking where he was going. Enrique immediately shouted “Kath, sa likod mo!”

“Ano?”, asked a confused Kathryn, then she turned around.

BOOM! The two had collided into each other, causing the both of them to fall to the ground.

“Aray ko! Hindi ka ba tumitingin sa dinadaanan mo?”, demanded an angry Kathryn.

“Sorry Miss! Sorry talaga! Hindi ko sinasadya!”

Daniel then looked up, and realized he had just bumped into THE Kathryn Bernardo.

“Kathryn Bernardo?”, Daniel said in surprise. Only one word could describe his feelings at that moment – starstruck.

“Oo, ako nga…”, confirmed Kathryn.

Daniel thought to himself, “Wow… mas maganda siya sa personal”. His smile widened, just as it had that morning when he found out he would have a chance to visit the Princess and I set. From that moment on, Daniel knew that he had to win Kathryn Bernardo’s heart.
