"You're new here, huh?" A waitress asked me, standing with a hand on hip and notebook in the other hand ready to take my order.

"Is it that obvious? oh and I'll just have some water for now please" My accent ringing through and answering her question.

"Yes honey. Now word of advice for you round here, stay away from the gang. You don't want to be in trouble with them and you don't want to be near them." She told me with a reassuring smile as she smacked gum between her teeth with every word.

"I'm sure I can take care of myself, but thank you." I replied, sitting myself up as if to show my capability.

"Oh hunny, that dark make up isn't falling anyone." She said with a smirk before wandering out back.

After  a meal and drink I decided to head off as the sky darkened. My first week in Australia. I pulled a cigarette out of my leather jacket pocket and raised it to my lips. A group of men headed towards the cafe, only their silhouettes being seen, is it the gang? Shrugging of my paranoia I walked in to the streets of Australia, heading back to my new home.

Turning round the corner of a street whilst trying to pull my lighter from my pocket.

"Oi oi" Shouts and whistles could be heard as I passed a group of men. I rolled my eyes and continued yanking on the lighter. "shut it" An angry voice called out from the group, quietening all stood around him. He stepped out from the group and walked towards me. "Need a light?" He asked, flicking his lighter to the cigarette between my lips. Still stood close to me, only the cigarette separating us, he muttered "You know, smoking kills" He muttered knowingly.

"Why do you think I do it?" I replied , taking in a drag before strutting away. Leaving the mystery watching me from behind.
