what is a ritual casting?
ritual casting is the form of worship witches do with their deity.
rituals are usually done on soltice or sabaths, think of it like a mass for witches.what is the diffrence between a sabath and a soltice.
sabath: is usually done on either full moon or new moon of the month depending on your deity. it is also the celebration for moon energy or the celebration for goddess worship.
soltice: we have 8 major soltice that indicates the wheel of the year starting from shamain(Pronounce as SooWeen) until imbolc. soltice or solstice are celebrations for the life cycle of the sungods.
you can read more on sabbaths and soltice online lets go back on our lesson for today.
Calling down the moon ritual
note:
this ritual is for solitary practioners. its made for individual worship.this ritual is done for making moon water. used for casting healing or love spells.
what you will need:
the fullmoon.
6 candles one for each directions plus one for the goddess and one for the god.
offering:
such as bread and wine.
flowers and fruits.salt
water
chalice
clear jar
incense~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
okay before we can start the ritual we need a quiet place where no one can bother you. while you are on the middle of the ritual. once you find your quiet place, cleanse the energy of the place by either sweeping the floor or scathering salt around you counter clockwise. set your altar on the middle facing either north or east.
after cleansing your space. using your index and middle finger or an athame (ritual double edge knife) invoke a white light to form a magic circle. (to do this you need to visualise from your solar flexus white light flowing to your hands and through your fingers or the athame projecting it outward) make a circle around you clockwise three times while saying.
I cast this circle
one for the maiden
two for the mother
three for the crone who sits on the throne.after casting your circle its time to invoke the spirits of elements. if your are scared of the elements which you should not, an alternative is that you can invoke alternatives such as fairies or elementals to represent each corner. (north is earth. east is fire. south is air. west is water.)
on our example lets use fairies.light the north candle
say:"I invoke the help of the nymphs joyfull and free. please be a witness for the element of Earth."
light the south candle and incense
say:"I invoke the help of the sylphs wise and kind. please be a witness for the element of Air."
light the east candle.
say:" I invoke the help of the pixies mischievous and warm. please be a witness for the element of fire."
light the west candle.
say:" I invoke the help of the sirens beautifull and cunning please be a witness for the element of water."
chant 5x:
earth air fire and waterafter this stay silent and feel the elements come and immerse you with their energy.
now light the candle representing the goddess and pray just like on the previous chapter. and then light the candle representing the god, again say a simple prayer.
thank the god and goddess for coming to your circle and present your offerings. after presenting your gifts.
get the water and pour it on your jar. add a pinch of salt and raise it above your head visualize the light of the fullmoon going down and charging the water.
once you feel the water is charged. seal it and leave it near a window letting it soak with the light of the moon.
thank the god and goddess for coming to your ritual. thank the faeries for being part of your ritual.
turn off the candles with out blowing the flame.
standing from the front of your altar point both index and middle finger visualize absorbing the circle of light and turn counter clockwise three times removing the circle. saying three times the circle is close but never broken.
Final notes:
leave the water till morning then cover the jar with red cloth. use it as a material for love potions or healing spells.
burry the offerings near a tree thanking the goddess
you can wait and meditate inside the circle and let the candles extinguish on their own as an alternative.
take a bath before and after the ritual.
