Chapter Six:

The Seperation of The Two Sisters

"your friends may be moving out of the country." said McGonagal.

"but why? What's happened?" asked Ariella, how began to fidget with her sleeves.

McGonagal let out a sigh, "I think it may be best for your friends to tell you. Come with me."

Katrina and the rest didn't say another word, they just got up following closely behind Professor McGonagal. She led them past the teachers table to the large room on the right. With a light shove she opened the door walking in with Katrina, Dante and Arielle following close behind. Inside was Dumbledore, Nyre and Rosalina.

"ah good you brought their friends, I will take my leave now." said Dumbledore standing up. He waited a short moment before leaving, not saying another word.

McGonagal motioned towards three chairs, Dante and the others quickly took their seats.

Rosalina had her face completely hidden under her thick chocolate brown hair. Her cloak was stained with countless tears. Nyre held her sister close, she took in a long breath preparing to speak.

"our father has been killed, and our mum wants us to move back to America." said Nyre.

Katrina was speechless. Dante and Ariella didn't say a word either.

"please, one of you say something." cried Nyre on the brink of tears.

Dante took hold of Nyre's hand, "so what's going to happen?" he asked, unsure what else to say.

Nyre remained silent for a moment. She closed her eyes taking in a deep breath. All of this was starting to overwhelm her. Rosalina took the moment of silence to speak. She rubbed her now puffy brown eyes, pushing her bushy hair from her face.

"I'm not leaving..." she stated with weak confidence.

"what?" said Nyre who was completely taken aback by this sudden outburst from Rosalina.

Rosalina rubbed her eyes roughly with her cloak once more.

"I am not going back to America..." she said once more.

"what are you talking about Rosalina? We have to leave." said Nyre.

Rosalina turned to her sister, tears filling her eyes once more.

"I can't leave, there's nothing left for me in America now that dad's dead." muttered Rosalina taking Nyre's hands in hers.

Nyre took in a deep breath looking up at her sister.

"I know..."

Rosalina pulled her sister into a tight hug, she didn't want to let her go. They had been through so much together. Hogwarts was supposed to be their adventure, but now...

"don't you forget to write to me you silly girl. And do your school work." said Nyre trying to keep a happy expression.

"I won't. Give mum my best, take care of her." said Rosalina, tears streaming down her bright red cheeks.

...

Nyre watched as she was taken from Hogwarts by her mother, leaving her sister and friends behind. She felt the sting to tears hit her eyes once more. Nyre didn't want to leave, but she couldn't leave her mother to go to America alone.

Rosalina looked from the tower window, as her sister and mother walked off the Hogwarts grounds. She felt in a way that she had betrayed them. She felt a sickening feeling of guilt that lingered over her like a dark omen. There was a click coming from the door. Rosalina did not want to talk to anyone at this point. She receded to the corner hiding her face in the shadow.

"Rosalina? Are you up here?" called out Dante.

"please leave me alone." said Rosalina bitterly.

Dante walked towards Rosalina standing a few feet away from her.

"what are you doing up here?" asked Dante, his voice very soft and comforting.

"I said leave me alone, I need some time to myself." snapped Rosalina.

Dante stepped back, not wanting to anger her further. "ok fine I'm leaving..." he said raising his hands in surrender.

"thank you..." said Rosalina in a softer tone.

...

Katrina sat with Dante in the courtyard the following afternoon like they usually would. Ariella decided to stay in Gyriffendor tower to finish up her last minute homework.

Katrina grabbed a few rocks tossing them aside. Dante remained quiet, silently playing with a ball in his hand. Katrina let out a discontent sigh tossing the last rock from her hand.

"Dante I'm worried about Rosalina." said Katrina breaking the silence.

"I am too, she hasn't been the same since Nyre left and with good reason." stated Dante.

"what you think we should do to help?" asked Katrina.

"honestly?" said Dante, "Nothing."

"we have to do something to help, she's our friend!"

Dante said nothing more. Katrina let out a small growl looking away from Dante for a moment.

She hated just sitting doing nothing when she knew Rosalina was miserable. But maybe Dante was right maybe they should just do nothing for now.

Weeks past, and still Rosalina remaind a recluse. Hiding up in the Astronomy Tower, and not talking to anyone. On a rare occasion she would talk to Katrina, Dante, or Ariella but it would always be quick and short. It seemed like she would remain that way forever.

...

It was late at night, final exams were right around the corner making everyone stay on edge. Katrina groaned hiding her face in her Transfiguration book. After all this time she still couldn't understand it. Rosalina was always the one to help her at times like this.

Katrina leaned back in her chair towards Dante who had his nose in a Charms book.

"can you help me?" pleaded Katrina.

Dante looked at her with a raised brow.

"you know I would but I have to work on Charms. My exam is tomorrow!" said Dante.

Katrina continued to brood over her textbook, the many notes she tried to take were nothing more than chicken scratch. She closed the book with a growl tossing it in her bag. She crossed her arms in defeat, mumbling curses under her breath.

"Katrina..." said a voice. She looked up to find Rosalina standing over her her lips curled into a forced smile.

"Rosalina?" Katrina was completely taken aback by her sudden appearance.

"I know I have been a mess lately, but I want to change that." said Rosalina.

Katrina's emerald eyes glowed in delight. Dante was right!

"Starting with helping you with Transfiguration..." added Rosalina sitting down in the chair next to Katrina

Katrina smiled pulling out her textbook once more,

"thanks..."

"no problem."

Dante through his arms in the air.

"what about me!! I need help in Charms!" cried out Dante.

"you know I'm terrible in Charms Dante..." said Rosalina, laughing weakly.

"great..." said Dante sarcastically, hiding his face in his textbook.
