Bridgette was fuming. Her Christmas morning had been far from enjoyable thanks to Twitter. His face appeared on her computer screen and it took all of her strength to keep a straight face and cross her arms over her chest.

'Hey, little one! Happy Christmas!'  Luke had a Santa hat on to cover his flattened quiff and a cluster of fairy lights were lit in his hands.

'I wouldn't call it a happy one.' Bridgette muttered, turning away from the laptop to look out the window. The snow was falling thick and fast yet Bridgette couldn't get excited for it. This thing was nibbling away inside her head.

'What's up baby? do you have cramps?' Luke asked. It made her even more mad that he jumped straight to something she had no control over.

'No, Luke! What the hell is this?!' Bridgette yelled, holding up a picture of Luke kissing a very tacky-looking girl that a fan had sent her through Direct Message on Twitter. Luke sighed, looking down at his hands and fiddling with the flickering lights.

'I can explain.' He said quietly.

'You better have a good explanation, my friend, because if I've wasted two fucking years on you I am not going to be happy.' Bridgette glared. She could feel the heat radiating all over her body, screaming for relief. She rolled her sleeves up but immediately crossed her arms again.

'No! No, you haven't! I just- there was this girl and Calum said she liked me and she was all over me and I panicked and-'

'And you kissed her?'

'No! She kissed me! She asked me whether I wanted to hook up but she kissed me before I could tell her about you! Please, believe me!.' He was begging, pleading with Bridgette for forgiveness.

'Luke, you can't honestly think I believe that can you? I get it, you were horny and I wasn't there.' Bridgette sighed at the sarcastic comment.

'Jesus, Didge, do you really think I would do something like this? I love you, for fuck's sake! Please believe me!' Luke's eyes were filling with tears that were threatening to spill over the edge.

'I honestly don't know what to believe at the moment.' Her mouth quivered as a large sob rose in her throat. She wanted to believe him so badly, but a small voice was telling her he was lying. And she believed it.

'Don't do this...' Luke whispered, tears falling down his cheeks. His lips were parted slightly as if he was going to say something more, but no amount of words would change how Bridgette felt about this.

'I'm sorry, I just... need some space for a while.' Bridgette closer her laptop lid and stared into space. Pictures of her and Luke littered her walls from their days out and nights in together for the best part of 3 years. 3 whole years: ruined in a half hour. Was Bridgette blowing this out of proportion? Probably. There was a part of her that believed what he said, but finding out about it from Twitter made her feel worthless. He obviously didn't want to tell her about this, otherwise he would have told her when it happened. Not 6 days after.

'Hiya love. I bought you a cup of tea.' Grace tiptoed into Bridgette's room and set the mug down on her dresser. Bridgette was still staring into space, unable to feel anything.

'You okay? Has Luke gone to sleep?' Grace asked, patting Bridgette on the shoulder.

'Can I ask you something?' Bridgette's voice was thick with threatening sobs.

'Of course, you can ask me anything.' Grace sat down on the edge of Bridgette's bed.

'If you saw a picture of dad kissing another girl, would you believe him if he said it was a mistake?' Tears fell from Bridgette's eyes, leaving black streaks down her face.

'Show me the picture.' Grace's voice was monotone and expressionless as Bridgette handed her phone to Grace. She stared at it for what seemed like forever.

'Well.' She paused. 'Luke's body language says to me that he is uncomfortable. Look, he's got his eyes open. He's clearly not enjoying it. Maybe it was just some crazy fan trying to get attention.'

'So you're saying I've overreacted?'

'No, I don't think you have, but you just needed to look at the bigger picture.' Grace stood up and began to leave the room. She stopped at the doorway, turning to face Bridgette again.

'He's a good kid, honey. Don't lose him over something this silly.'

                    •                    •                    •                    •                    •

'She knows.'

'Shit. How did she take it?'

'How do you think? Have you checked Twitter? It's awful...' Luke choked through large sobs.

'Alright, buddy, calm down. She probably just needs time to process everything.' Calum reasoned.

'What if she dumps me? Oh god Calum, I don't know what to do.' Luke's sobs turned into loud hiccups but the tears kept rolling down his face.

'We'll cross that bridge when we get to it, okay? For now, you need to give her space. Try to enjoy your Christmas, mate.' Calum hung up the FaceTime, leaving Luke sat cross legged on the floor. He was staring at the photo that remained on his dresser. It was the first photo that Bridgette had sent him back in 2011 when they first met online. She had dyed her hair blonde and was slowly coming out of her 'emo' phase. Her hair was still all across her face but she has toned down the eyeliner and oversized hoodies. She was smiling into the camera with a panda beanie placed perfectly on her head. This photo was the one that helped Luke realise his feelings for Bridgette. Now he was worrying that her feelings for him were fading away. The thought of losing Bridgette only made him cry more. If only he could turn back time, he would've never let that bimbo kiss him; he would've dome things so much differently.

'Luke?' It's 3 in the morning, what are you doing awake?' Liz's tired voice spoke softly as she rubbed her eyes, adjusting to the harsh light. Her arms were around Luke as soon as she saw the state he was in.

'She hates me, mum. I've messed up.' Luke had ran out of tears to cry. A numbness set over his body as his eyes glazed over.

'I've seen the tweets, love. But Bridgette should understand. You would never do anything like this to her. She's probably just confused. Give it a few days, you'll be back to normal in no time.'

'I don't know, mum. She's so angry...' Liz squeezed Luke tighter, stoking his back and kissing his forehead.

'I don't think I can live without her.'

'I know, I know.'

'She was the only thing that made me happy. I can't go back to how I was. I don't know what to do, mum.' Liz sighed. Se hated seeing her son upset, but she was determined to stay positive.

'Let's get you into bed, you'll feel better after some sleep.' Liz picked Luke up from the floor and tucked him in his bed, stroking his flat hair and leaving a kiss on his cheek.
