The room was filled with deodorant smells and heavy metal music. 2015 was already off to a flying start as the boys had booked a gig in Sydney which had sold out in under 10 minutes. This made them feel both excited and terrified to be better than they were last time they played in Sydney. Michael was fixing his hair in the mirror, spiking it up and spraying it. Calum was scrolling through his phone and replying to tweets he was tagged in. Ashton was drying himself after a long shower in preparation for the show. Bridgette and Luke were curled up on the couch together. Bridgette was sat in between Luke's legs and her head was resting on his shoulder. Luke was playing with Bridgette's fingers, gently placing a kiss to her temple every so often. All was calm in the dressing room and Bridgette sighed happily at the peace settling over everyone.
'You okay, little one?' Luke whispered in her ear, stroking her arms and causing goosebumps to erupt on her skin.
'Yeah, just happy.' Bridgette smiled, pulling Luke's arms around her body to be just a little bit closer to him. The telecom crackled into life and everyone turned to face the tiny speaker on the ceiling.
'10 minutes until showtime, boys. Time to get backstage.'
'Okay lads, let's rock this house tonight.' Ashton instructed, heading out of the dressing room and towards the main stage. Michael and Calum followed close behind. Bridgette stood up and pulled Luke with her, making their way to the side of the stage.
'I have to get my seat, Luke. Break a leg.' Bridgette pecked Luke's lips and turned around. Luke grabbed her wrist before she could move too far.
'Bridgette I'm scared.' Luke admitted, his cheeks turning red. Bridgette sighed and rolled her eyes, bringing her arms around his neck. Luke automatically hugged her closer to his body.
'It's just another concert, Luke. You were fine for all the others I've been to.' Bridgette played with the small hairs on the back of his neck.
'I know but mum and dad are in the audience and I'm scared I'm not going to be good enough.' Luke looked down at Bridgette's yellow Doc Martens, feeling embarrassed.
'Luke, your mom and dad will always love you. Get on stage with some optimism and you'll be fine. Okay? Now get out there, rockstar.' Bridgette gave Luke a big kiss on his cheek, pulling her body away from his as their finger laced together so they were an arms length away from each other.
'But-'
'I'm in the 5th row. If you get nervous, look for me.' Bridgette made her way through the wires and crew members, finding her seat next to Liz. She smoothed her skirt down and pulled her phone from her pocket, ready to take photos. Liz had her camera out ready as she waited in anticipation.
'Liz, stop bouncing! You're making me nervous.' Bridgette chuckled placing a hand onto Liz's shoulder to stop her jitters.
'Sorry, love. I'm just excited.' She smiled at me, popping a toffee into her mouth. The lights went out and loud screams were heard from all around the concert hall. Spotlights followed the boys as they took their places with their instruments. They said a few hello's and pointed out some of the costumes a couple of girls had dressed in. Luke's eyes wandered around the audience, taking in all the eyes watching him as he leaned his hands on his microphone. His eyes met Bridgette's and he smiled. Bridgette put her thumbs up and he mouthed 'you'll be fine'. He nodded and Bridgette blew him a kiss, making his face light up.
'Who're you smiling at , Luke? Do I need to remind you that your girlfriend is in the audience?' Michael spoke into the microphone, eyeing Luke suspiciously. The crowd squealed, excited to know that Bridgette was among them.
'Actually, I think he was smiling at her. Hey! I can see her! Hi, Bridgey.' Calum giggled excitedly into the microphone, pointing and waving in Bridgette's direction. She sank lower into her seat and hid her face with her her hand. Bridgey was a childish nickname Calum had made up and so far only Calum had called her that. Thanks to yelling it out, fans are going to start calling her that.
'Oops, she looks mad...'
'Moving on!' Luke chuckled nervously, winking at Bridgette. 'Here's Heartbreak Girl.' The boys launched into their on-stage energetic selves and were making the crowd scream. This was their natural habitat - their true home - up on stage was where they were most comfortable with themselves. Luke was always self-conscious about his skin and they scars that littered his face. Bridgette found his flaws all the more attractive and she would constantly remind him that he was always handsome to her. All his insecurities were forgotten as soon as he got in front of adoring fans and sung his heart out. It almost made Bridgette emotional to see him so natural and free in front of such a large audience. A few songs in and they were having a breather, sitting down on stage and swigging from bottles of water to soothe their burning throats.
'So how is everyone? Are you good?' Ashton spoke into the microphone from behind his drumkit. The fans squealed in response, making Ashton grin with his dimples showing.
'So #5SOSinSydney is trending on Twitter, thank you for asking so many questions. We're going to answer some now.' Calum got out his phone and started scrolling. Michael and Luke did the same while Ashton adjusted his drums.
'Most of them are about Bridgette. She has more fans than we do!' Calum laughed.
'Hey Bridgette!' Michael made eye contact with her as her cheeks flushed. 'They want to know why you're in Australia.'
'What do I do?' Bridgette whispered to Liz. Her question was answered when a member of staff handed her a working microphone.
'I've come to visit my four best friends, of course.'
'And your boyfriend.' Ashton added.
'Yes, and my boyfriend.' Bridgette replied in a patronising tone.
'It's awful when we're alone. Like, the boys and I are constantly third wheeling those two. They just make out and act all cute.' Ashton made a horrible face. Bridgette's face went hot as she sank back down in her seat. Luke was just as uncomfortable and his cheeks were turning pink.
'Just because you lot are jealous.' Luke muttered, plucking at his guitar to make sure it was still in tune.
'We're just messing, We love Bridgette and Luke a lot.' Michael chuckled, sipping his water. They got their instruments back together and prepared themselves for a few more songs. Playing through the old favourites and some new ones, the audience loving every minute of it. Once they exited the stage, Bridgette rushed round the people and backstage. She jumped into Luke's arms and wrapped her legs around his hips. His hands held onto her thighs to support her as their lips connected.
'You did great, pickle! You were worrying about nothing.' Bridgette smile was wide as Luke pecked her forehead and let her down. 'Oh, and Michael?'
'What?' Michael's mouth was filled with banana.
'I didn't appreciate you calling me out. Don't let it happen again.' Bridgette warned.
'Okay, sorry.' Michael held his hands up in mock surrender, sitting on the sofa and becoming engrossed in his phone.
'You're sexy when you're mad.' Luke whispered in Bridgette's ear, kissing down her neck and down to her collar bone.
'PDA alert!' Ashton yelled, covering his eyes. Bridgette rolled her eyes, snaking her arms around Luke's waist and hugging him close.
