7 Years Later

Spencer stood towards the end of the hallway, and he took a deep breath. It was the last day of his last year at middle school. The children of his classroom were obnoxious, and they were all excited to tell each of their friends where they were planning to attend High School at.

He was nervous to say the least. He sighed, and he rested his hand on the doorknob, and he began to twist it before walking inside the teenager-filled classroom, and he sat down in his desk, located near the back of the desk.

Spencer felt a slight tap on his shoulder, and he turned over to the left, and he saw the familiar reddish brown hair of his friend Sakura Hitojunban. "How was your weekend?" she asked him.

He smiled softly at her, "I'd say that it was rather normal, well, as normal it could be in my house." he responded to her.

"Hey, do you think that we'll be able to make it into the High School of our choice?"

"I mean, it only depends on how well we do on their entrance exams. Wait, where do you want to attend for High School?"

"Isn't it obvious? It's gotta be Yuuei! What about you Spencer?"

"I'm not too sure as to what I want to go to yet."

"Then apply to Yuuei as well! I think you'll get in with your quirk!"

"That seems a bit... Radical. Me, a hero? And at Yuuei of all places? They'll laugh at me."

"But at least I'll know somebody there."

"Point taken," he then placed a hand on his chin, "Fine, I'll do it. But just so you can have a friend already in the school, if you make it in."

Sakura pointed a finger at him, "You know I will make it into that school!" she exclaimed.

Spencer just turned to face the front as the bell rang.

The day went by like any other, and Spencer was fine with that. The final bell rang, and he gathered his stuff quickly so he could go home before traffic could get bad, not even waiting for his friend Sakura, as he knew that she'd be at the station already.

Spencer smiled as the next phase in his life would soon begin.

Spencer had reached the station in less than ten minutes, resting his hands on his knees, panting heavily. "What took you so long Spencer?" questioned Sakura, and he looked up, and he saw that she was positioned in a way that she was leaning forward, looking down at him, a hand resting against the wall.

Spencer straightened his back, and took a deep breath. "I just got lost in the masses." he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck.

"Fine," she shrugged, and she straightened herself, and she looked towards the crowd, "Dang. We missed our train..."

"Guess that we'll have to wait for the next train." Spencer assumed.

"Sure, let's go with that. Like nothing bad can happen if we wait." she replied, a grin visible on her face.

"Hey, Sakura?" he asked her, and she glanced back at him.

"What is it?"

"Don't tell me that this is one of your personalities, is it?" he asked nervously.

"Now why would you think that Spencer?" she rested her hands on her hips.

"Because you're not acting right."

She sighed. "You're no fun." she replied after a few seconds of silence.

She then reached a hand to her face, and suddenly, a black band with neon green highlights and a pair of red lenses appeared as she peeled the mask from her face. "You never let me surprise you." she complained. She then tucked the mask into her side pack.

"That's only because I know each and every one of your personalities. And I'm the only person that can stand them. All like ten of them."

She smiled softly at him, "And I'm grateful for that."

"Was that a new one by any chance?"

"Uh yeah, why'd you ask? I mean, introducing Oracle!" she puffed proudly.

He waited a minute before replying "It's just a thought, but why Oracle of all names? You haven't had any form of future sight from it."

"I don't know really. When I make the masks, I get impressions of names for them."

Sakura Hitojunban, Spencer's best friend had a rather interesting quirk. It was called "Personality", and it relied on her crafting skills. When Sakura makes a mask, that mask develops a personality, and each one was different, and each had their own banes and boons. The only problem was when she used more than five swaps, then each mask's "personality" would mash together, and it messed up her brain.

The quirk worked by the inner lining of each mask having a different mixture of hormones, chemicals, and in some cases, legal drugs. And she had to make each mask herself, and she gave each one a name.

Joker for example was a prankster who would bring her great luck, but would sacrifice her liking towards humanity as a result. And Fox greatly boosted her naivety and artistic talent. Those were just a few examples.

But Oracle... It just didn't fit.

"When did you make?"

"About three days ago."

"And it still hasn't done anything to live up to it's name."

"Nope," she huffed, "But I suspect that it'll happen soon. Heck, it can even occur even after I take off the mask for like, a few hours."

"Point taken." he remarked, remembering how she had figured out how Shield worked.

He shook off the thought.

"Let's get going then," Sakura began to walk towards the Station exit, "Best not to keep your mother waiting."

"Wouldn't the train be much faster?" Spencer asked, gesturing a hand to the tracks.

She paused a moment. "Nah, I found a shortcut that will take us to your house in less than half an hour. Come on metal brain." She then proceeded to continue walking down the street.

Spencer sighed before he began to follow his friend.

And he would never have been prepared enough for what had happened next.

It wasn't a great idea at all in hindsight, heading down that shortcut.

At first, it seemed to be like a normal shortcut, walking distance through the various alleys as they made their way through the city towards Spencer's house.

The two of them walked down through the city as they made their way towards a small bridge- It stretched through the overpass of a canal, and he frowned once he saw that there was water flowing through the channel.

"Sakura-san?" he began, "I don't know if I like this at all. What if-"

"I won't let you fall in Spencer-kun." came her reply, and he nodded in response. She stepped forward, "I'll catch you if you fall."

He hoped that she would live up to her words.

He took a cautious step forward, almost as if he was too afraid, and he sighed in relief when he noticed that everything was fine.

"See, it's not so bad after all!" Sakura smiled at him, but Spencer only smiled nervously.

"I don't know if I can do it!"

"Yes you can, because I believe in you!"

Spencer looked down at himself, and he slowly took another step forward. Nothing happened.

This went on for a while, and all seemed well...

Until the bridge began to creak from underneath him.
