Dear Joshua,

How are you? I am fine. I have been very busy here in China. The folks are quiet and they keep to themselves mainly, but they do help out each other, regardless of the expenses. I wish Americans were like the Asian society. The village I am currently residing in is quite enjoyable. I haven't had a vacation quite like this for a while now. I know I haven't written to you in forever, and I apologize.

I meant to send this letter sooner, but we had a few meltdowns at work recently, so I haven't had a moment to spare in quite a while. Therefore, I am very sorry that I hadn't tried to communicate with you sooner.

I was notified that your graduation is coming up soon. I was hoping to take some time off of work to come see it, but it's doubtful that I'll get the days off in time for me to fly over and see you. I was hoping that after we spent some time together in town, you might fly back with me to come sight see China for a bit. I know that you will have trouble finding time off of your own job, but if it is needed, I will personally try to reason with your company to allow you a few days break.

I will try to make it out there as fast as I can. I know that you are severely missing your older brother, and I miss you as well. However, please try to be patient, as doctors don't get much vacationing time, I'm afraid. Still, I will do my best to join you soon.

Tell all of your friends that I said hi!

Your beloved brother,

Adam Brown

I sat in my bed, thunderstruck. I found myself reading the name over and over again in my mind, still not comprehending the words. Anna peeked into my room slowly, her face creased with worry.

"Are you alright, Master Joshua?" she asked me. I looked up at her and my eyes were burning with vengeance.

"That bastard!!" I cried, crumpling up the letter. I threw it on the ground and stamped on the paper a couple times before tossing it in the waste bin by my desk. Snatching up a piece of paper, I scribbled down three words and wrinkled it up into a ball. I threw it at Anna and she caught it with a bewildered expression. I glared at her, my nostrils flaring.

"Put that in an envelope and mail it to my dear brother!" I snapped furiously She bowed quickly and ran off. I could hear her footsteps rushing around in the living room, probably searching for a pen. The paper had only one sentence for my brother, scribbled down in an untidy scrawl.

"Really?! He sent you a letter?" asked Sam. I nodded at him. "That bastard thinks he can just come back into my life...well, he's wrong!" I snapped. The librarian, more alert today than usual, hissed at us to be quiet, and I flipped her off. Sam grinned, grabbing my wrist and jerking my hand back to my side. I relaxed at his touch, shrugging off his hand.

"I just don't know why I ever idolized him," I muttered. Sam chuckled.

"I actually think you two are very alike—hot headed, strong, intelligent, and always willing to fight for what you believe in. You both have a tendency to never give up on something," said Sam. I looked at him with all seriousness.

"Don't forget that we're both hot," I told him. Sam suppressed a grin, squeezing my shoulder affectionately.

"That too," he joked. I shook my head, turning from him slightly.

"Please don't compare me to my brother—I'll only look stupid and pissed," I told him. Sam pursed his lips at me.

"He's not a bad person...he just didn't think through his plan of moving to China," defended Sam gently. I shrugged.
