zach stood looking in the bathroom mirror at the tiredness that took over his features. staring at the bags that hung from his eyes, the sunken look of his cheeks.

wondering where everything went wrong.

zach knew he should've been happy for where he was in life. he was blessed. young, successful, and surrounded by loving fans, but for some reason he couldn't help but to hate himself more and more by the second.

he hated that people adored him. people looked up to the train wreck of a life that he led. he hated that people admired the things he did as if he were a good person. he couldn't bear to think that some little girl or boy out there aspired to be like him, when he was such a mess inside.

people loved what he let them see, but he knew better.

i don't wanna be you anymore he thought, glaring at his reflection.

things started fun and happy. living life with his four best friends was everything he could've asked for, but after two years and lots of drama, only tension hung over him and the other guys' heads.

a knock sounded at the door, signaling someone else was there.

"dude, zach, are you in there? did something happen? daniel and jack are acting all weird."

zach turned and opened the door to see a perplexed corbyn standing on the other side.

"woah, what bus hit you?"

zach brushed passed him, not in the mood for jokes.

"okay, zach, what the hell is going on? why is no one speaking?"

"why don't you go ask daniel? or jack?" zach spat out, making his way down the stairs to the front hall.

just saying their names made him feel like shit. he needed to get out of this house.

"i'm going for a ride. don't wait up," zach said loud enough for anyone who was listening to hear.

zach knew he wasn't the best driver, and that it probably wasn't the smartest idea to be driving in his current state of mind, but he had to do something. as long as he was distracted.

that was the thing about zach. he would rather distract himself from the problems and feelings that he had. as long as it was bottled up, he could pretend it wasn't there.

every single thought troubling zach was swirling around in his head at a dizzying speed. it was only when zach felt the car beginning to swerve that he would snap back to reality.

before long, zach found himself going a semi-familiar route that was totally unintentional. as he neared the house, he began getting nervous. they hadn't been friends for a very long time, they'd probably think he was insane if he just came knocking on their door right now.

zach climbed out of the car, running a hand through his mess of hair and attempting to look neater.

a distraction. that was all he needed. he didn't need a deep conversation. then he might scare away the person he came to see.

going against every doubt and warning his subconscious was yelling at him, zach raised his hand to knock on the door. a moment later it was pulled open, revealing a slightly startled and confused expression.

"zach?"

"loren."
