Chapter 7: Little Chat

Reborn's POV

Another day has arrived, yet all of these girls still folks around me. Well, normally I wouldn't hate it, but the way they're invading my personal space is getting on my nerve.

I consider them lucky because just before I get the chance to chase them out, my phone rang. I frown as I check on who called. It was Ven...

And to say, this is completely unlike him. Afterall, that stupid brother of mine never calls me this many times, especially NOT when I'm on missions... 'What is going on?'

I accept the video call even though I'm still at my desk. Well, at least it's lunchtime.

"Ren-Kun~ You finally accepted the call~" Comes a high pitched voice and I mentally wince. I also notice many students outside of the original crowd, including Dame-Tsuna, perked their ears to listen in.

Idiots, the whole lot of them...
But fine, if they want to listen, I'll give them what they wanted. And so I set it on the full volume.

"Madre, what a pleasant surprise," I say with a smirk, afterall if she's calling me in such a way, especially by using Ventura's phone, then something must have happened, more likely something amusing. Something I can use to tease him with. My smirk widens before then I told my classmates to wave at her in which she waves back enthusiastically.

"My oh my! Hello, class~!" She greeted in crip after nodding slightly at me, understanding that she must filter the unnecessary words for the next couple of minutes.

"Well, yeah, anyway~! Your Mother calling you should always be a pleasant surprise~ Besides I have wonderful stories about Ven-Kun to tell you~" She says in her overly joyous tone. She seemingly pauses before smiling happily and pulls another figure into the camera's view.

"Ah, Padre, how are you?" I ask him.
"Hmmm, I'm doing well, yourself?" He says with that ever annoying blank face of his, I have no idea what Madre saw in him when she decided she wanted to marry him. Well, at least he gave an acknowledging nod towards my classmates. Though, if anything I kind of curious about what's with that little pause in his and Madre's movement when I showed them Dame-Tsuna.

'Do they happen to know him before this?' Afterall, that was an uncommon reaction from them. And even myself felt a bit nostalgic somehow somewhat when I first met him. So, I guess both Padre and Madre knew something. 
But anyway, let's think about that later...

'for now...' I smirk as I then reply him, "I'm doing wonderfully, I just hope you're prepared to retire when I come back to take over your place in our business" I taunted.
Yet before he can say anything else on that matter Madre cuts in "Boys~ Not now~" She says while rolling her eyes playfully, in which we both immediately stop ourselves from saying anything more on the subject. Afterall, whatever that woman wants she gets. She has the real power in our family and no one would ever oppose her... 

Well, except for Ven.
 
It was no secret that she adores him, "We don't have a lot of time and I have a very funny story to tell you Ren-Kun~" she said again, cutting my thoughts.

"Ah, do tell then Madre," I say and her eyes sparkle.

"You see Ven-Kun was at school yesterday and when he came home he told me he had the strangest encounter, a girl had gone up to him and said 'Will you go out with me' and he had responded to her in a way that he thought was normal and said 'Sure, I'll walk you outside' the poor girl had apparently turned red before she ran off crying." She laughed as she said this and many of the student around me who had heard tried to muffle their laughter, Dame-Tsuna let out a quiet snort. I let out a chuckle of my own. Even Padre looked amused.

Madre continued "When I told him why she had reacted in such a way he said 'Why would you ask someone to go out with them in order to start a relationship?' he genuinely sounded confused, my poor baby~" she swooned.
"Well, our little Ven has always been a little too dense in those moments," I commented.
Before anyone else can speak through a door slams open on Madre's side of the line and a voice speaks in an emotionless tone "Madre, who said you could use my phone to call Ren?"
"Ah, Ven-Kun~ can't a Mother call her own children when they're away from her?"

"Hmmm, it would have been fine, had you been calling him to just check up on him, but when I was downstairs with Colonello I got the feeling you were talking about me, it looks like I was right" He replies, voice completely even. I can even imagine his emotionless look while saying this despite how he's not on the rage of view at all.

I guess he's really like Padre in that division. He's so good on hiding his emotions that sometimes-- Like, most of the times, even us, his family, struggle to see through them.

"Now, now, what's done is done, Ven. So why don't you just greet my new friends too, hmm?" I teased him, but as expected he immediately declines.

"No thanks. I gotta go now. And since this is MY phone..."

"Ah, wait, Ven--!" but Madre's whine got cut off as the call ended. Feeling amused I shake my head a little, 'Guess, he's still the same shy-ven we all know...'

putting back my phone to my pocket I glanced around, knowing what'll come next...
