We were sitting at the table quietly waiting for the food to arrive.
Apparently Elena called ahead to have food ready when we arrived. When the waiters came to us carrying trays with multiple plates on them my eyes widened in surprised. Dante smirked at me so I know I didn't hide it quick enough.
"Eat up everyone." Elena smiled. "No one can leave until everything is gone."
"Thank you for treating us to dinner." I smiled at her as Wade wasted no time digging in.
"You earned it." She smiled widely at me.
"I only did what was right." I said quietly for what felt like the tenth time today.
"You seem like a good person." She smiled again. "Maybe you and Dante could be friends."
Dante started choking on the drink he was sipping on. "Mom." He said flatly.
"What?" She asked innocently. "You need more friends."
"I have friends." He remarked.
"You-"
"I'll be your friend." I stated quietly. "If you want that is." Hopefully that will stop the argument that seemed moments away. "You don't have to." I added quickly finally looking over at him.
He raised his glass to me. "To friendship." He took another sip of his drink.
"To friendship." I mimicked him and took a sip of my drink after raising it to him.
"Oh!" Elena said loudly making me jump slightly.
"What?" Jasmine asked.
"I just had an idea." She answered.
"Why don't you two become brothers?"
Dante spit his drink across the table and coughed before finally looking at my shocked face and his mom's happy face.
"What?"
"Become brothers." She stated like it was that simple. "Your dad and uncles did it."
"We barely know each other." He stated. "We just met today."
"What do you say, Mikki?" Elena asked.
"If he wants to." I stated. It's just an oath right?
"Perfect!" She clapped and stood up. "Let's get going then."
"Where?" Wade asked.
"To make them sworn brothers of course." She said happily.
I haven't even touched any of the food yet. I whined in my head. I'll just eat when I get home tonight.
I stood up as well and followed Elena and Everyone else out.
"I'll ride with Mikki." Dante said putting his arm over my shoulder. "I want to get to know my soon to be brother better."
"The truck only holds two people comfortably." Wade stated.
He's not lying.
"Ride with mom." Dante stated.
Elena grabbed his arm and pulled him to a sleek black car. Jasmine glared at us before following them into the car.
"Shall we?" Dante asked gesturing towards my truck. "After you."
We climbed in and I pulled out. He gave me directions to get to wherever we were going. We pulled up to a church. I looked over at Dante to see that he was starring at me.
"Are you sure about this?" He asked looking into my eyes.
Of course.
I nodded and smiled at him.
