I walked down the hallways of the school, looking down. It was huge, and the hallways where long, and crowded. I couldn't help but bump into a few people. Most of them ignored me, so I didn't apologize. No one really gave me too much trouble. I hated moving so much. I was at a new school every year. My parents promised this would be the last. They said that all the time. By the end of the year they would want to move again. I'm 18 now though, so legally I don't have to go with them. I probably won't. Hopefully I will make some real friends this year and I can stay with them after I graduate. My parents can go have fun wherever they decide to go. I don't care. I like it here, in riverdale. South side high might suck but who cares? It's still a school, I'm still going somewhere away from my parents during the day. I kept my head down most of the day. Someone invited me to the whyte worm later, and I didn't think it smart to refuse, although I didn't know where that was. I didn't talk to anyone though, didn't raise my hand, and in turn people pretended I wasn't there, aside from whoever invited me out later. She said her name was Tony.
Later, after school, I finally found the place I was looking for.
"Hey" Tony said "glad you could come. You did pretty decent for your first day at southside."
"Well..." I said " I move around a lot, and the way this is going, I don't know if I can make friends"
"You already have"
"Really?"
"Yeah. Don't worry about the others"
I nodded. She showed me some stuff, and had me do some stuff, and we repeated this for a few days, until she handed me a jacket. It was black leather and had the Serpents logo on the back.
"You're one of us now" Tony said. I wasn't sure I wanted to be a serpent. I didn't really know to much about them, and initiation was hard. I wanted to show I was tough though. Tough enough to leave my parents when they move to who-knows-where.
