Although Rodney Alcala killed anywhere between 8 and 130 women, he was best known as The Dating Game Killer, because he was a contestant of the popular game show just before he was caught. Alcala tortured and strangled his victims after taking sexually explicit photos. Alcala had ultimately won a date on The Dating Game, but the date never happened because he was deemed too creepy. The rejection was seen by some as a reason for his killings, but he had already killed at least 4 people by that point. He was caught in 1979 and sentenced to death.
