Chapter Three

I woke up to a hand in my face and very, very confused until I realized that Sage and I skipped class yesterday and that it is currently six o'clock in the morning. When I tried to get up it felt like a two hundred pound weight was on me. I finally got the surprisingly heavy girl off me so I was able to get in the shower and ready for the dreaded day. BY the time I got out of the bathroom and dressed Sage was running around and shouting at me because I didn't wake her up even though she has plenty of time.

By the time we got to class I had already had a lecture on how impolite I am and how I need to learn manners. When we got to class and it actually started it went by a little to fast for me. The walk to my next class seemed very short and I was not as ready as I thought. I walked inside the classroom with every muscle in my body as tense as a possum when he acts dead. To my relief he wasn't even there yet and I relaxed a little. Although, it didn't last very long. The door swung open and there he was in all his jerkish glory. I kept my head held high and my eyes straight, even though I felt his eyes on me and smelt his cologne that he knows I love. No matter how hard I tried to focus, my mind kept wondering to what it might be like if he was faithful.

When the bell finally rang, I jumped up so fast I got dizzy, but I kept going trying to get as far away as I could from him. I heard footsteps getting closer not matter how fast I ran through these ancient walls. When the person finally caught up with me I was ready for a fight and already made my mind up about what I would say. I turned around to be face to face with my best friend. She was panting and looked like she could pass out any moment.

" I thought you were Him." I said to her almost instantly.

" S..sorry I didn't mean to, I w..was worried about you. Dang why d you have to be the athletic one in this relationship?" she asked while wheezing the whole time.

" Because you don not like to sweat, and your hair would get frizzy." I mocked

" Well, it is true I would look like a cat drenched in water. Are you okay?" She finally said.

" Yeah. I mean I know I will eventually have to talk to him and I know him and I will need to sit down and get the whole awkward conversation out of the way. I mean if the Thinkers send us a link that says we are both on the same assignment, we would need to at least be civil." I shyly confessed to her.

" You know I was thinking the same thing Liz." a voice from behind me said. I could tell that it was Caleb by the way his voice sounded and by the stupid nickname he gave me. I turned around and said.

" Well mister Jerk-face, if you want t talk so bad why not get it over with. This way I can officially say goodbye to you, and hope we do not get put on an assignment together." Well this just got interesting...
