Guys, I went looking for help.
I am heading to 666 Clamoribus St.
Do not go anywhere, I will be back
after I make some calls.
-Starlight
“Your name is Starlight?” read the stranger over my shoulder. I nodded taking one last look at my note before putting it on John’s seat. “Unusual.”
“You should hear my middle name,” I added sarcastically remembering the many times I complained about it to my parents. His eyes seemed to nudge me forward, encouraging me to tell it to him. “Ace,” I said.
“Starlight Ace...Pretty name -”
“Ha! Try going through life without getting teased about it!”
“You may not hear it often, but your name it’s quite pretty. And I believe it suits you,” I turned to butter, melted butter at the sound of his words.
I stared at him in wonder as his lips mouthed sentences my ears could no longer hear.
Something was terribly wrong. I was strong, independent, confident. I ate cute guys like him for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I was immune to their flattery, and yet, every word out of this complete stranger had me mouth agape and nodding like a pup waiting for a treat.
“Wh- what's-- what's your-- n-n-n-ame?” I stuttered.
“My name is Gavin, Gavin Hogan.” I mouthed his name but no sound came. Had I gone mute all of the sudden? “Shall we go, Starlight?” He asked offering me his hand. I nodded without hesitation and wasting no time I took his hand in mine, little tremors ran up my arm and warning sirens bellowed in my head but I decided to keep going. But as I planted my feet on the soil and attempted to get out of the car, everything underneath me began to quake as if the ground was about to crack open. I gasped afraid of falling.
“Umh…” I groaned.
“That’s not good,” Gavin said, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me closer towards him. My heaving chest pressed against his totally relaxed pectorals as the wind played with his shoulder-length nut-brown hair. And once again I got lost in his hypnotizing gaze. “You must have hit your head harder than I thought,” he added as his eyes swept over my forehead, the way they moved as if scanning my brain gave me chills. “You can lay down in my -”
“I just need to find my friends, then we will be on our way,” I attempted to step away from him but his arms were locked around me like steel. “I - I - I…” his irises contracted and expanded like a blue kaleidoscope. “I...will...rest…”
Suddenly all went black.
