Zeus' POV
I let the door close behind me, and made my way down the hall toward the coffee shop that sat in the middle of the building. I must say speaking with Abbey for the past 15 minutes was way more fun than going over my notes. I've never met anyone that has the passion for history that I notice in her. While she's not the first student the read the either book before class has even started. She is the first to give her honest opinion on the text book, I can tell when humans are lying to me. Her quite heated opinion of the text book was completely honest. Her opinions on Lance Anderson shocked me, most humans love his books, and except what he says at face value. I do agree some of his writings are a little backwards, they're still quite well written. She's the first human that I've met that doesn't seem to like him at all. Every semester when I'm coming up with my lesson plan for my classes I think about using my own books, but I always change my mind. After listening to Abbey's rant today, I may add them to my current lesson plan, or at least the lesson plan for next semester.
Looking at Abbey there was something there that I couldn't quite place my finger on. Speaking with her for those few minutes she seemed quite intelligent, but I cold tell that she was quite shy, and that she was holding back. There also seemed to be something bubbling under the surface that she was hiding. Like she had a secret that she didn't want me or anyone else to know. She has peaked my interest and I can't wait to get to know her better in the classroom setting. I tend to force shy students into the open, and force them to speak up and out in class. Some of them have hated me for this but, hey college isn't the time to be shy. She also seemed a little older than the typical college student, which isn't anything new, but someone with her intelligence should be working on her Master's not her under grad. Right than and there I decide to make it my mission to get to know everything that I can about her. I want to know what she is hiding. What is underneath the surface? What are her big bad secrets? Looking into her eyes I noticed that she was hiding some kind of pain, but I couldn't make out what it was. I didn't want to read her mind like I normally would with a human. For her it seems like that would be an invasion of privacy. The thing is I have no idea why I want to know all that I can about her. Most humans that I'm surrounded by I just move past with out a thought, but with her it's different. She makes me want to get to know her, it's a new feeling that I've never felt before.
One thing I did noticed about her was her necklace with the Eye Of Horus pendant on it.
I haven't seen one of those in a long time, in over a 1,000 years. I'll have to ask her about that, it's a odd pendant for a human to have. In fact the last time he saw one on a human it was a mummy. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I walked right past the coffee shop, and I had to double back. When I opened the door the smell of coffee beans hit me. I stopped for a moment looking up at the menu. She asked me to surprise her, and I was looking at the drinks they offered, also looking at the pasty items. I've never bought a student a coffee before, but since she peaked my interest it's a good way to get into her head. I expected her to tell me what she wanted, but her answer got me. It was kind of flirty without her even trying to flirt with me. The look in her eyes when she said it showed her innocence. She really did want me to surprise her, she wasn't trying to be sexy, or slutty at all. For some reason when she said it I felt a pull that I've never felt before, it wasn't sexual in nature I know that pull. This pull was electric, and it left me felling fuzzy. I felt it first when I went to shake her hand, there was this odd feeling, and a buzzing sound in my head. For that alone I need to get to know her better.
Clearing my head I make my way to the counter I know what I want now and order. Mocha-vanilla latte for both of us with an extra espresso shot for both of us. I also order a blue berry muffin for her, and a poppy seed muffin for me. I pay the girl at the counter and wait for my order to be done. After it's done I carry the drinks, and food back to the classroom. When I open the door I notice that her head is on the desk, and she appears to be sleeping. I walk up the aisle placing the items on an opposite desk, and I reach out my hand and move the hair out of her face. She looks so peaceful as she sleeps, smiling every now and then. But all of a sudden out of nowhere she starts whimpering and says "No." I put my hand on her shoulder to wake her up, and she does with a start. She looks around confused like she doesn't know where she is. Not wanting to embarrassing her any more than she has been today I just simply say.
"You fell asleep waiting for me to come back. I brought you a latte and a blueberry muffin." I tell her. She wrinkles her nose, rubs her eyes and blinks to clear her head.
"Thank you very much, but I can't take the muffin. I'm allergic to blueberries, and if I eat it I'll be rubbing cream in places later" she tells me. She then face palms herself, and says "I can't believe I just said that I'm so sorry."
I chuckle at her "It's quite all right, I also got poppy seed muffin if you want it. I'll take the blueberry, I'd hate for you to miss class do to itching. " I tell her winking at her. She blushes and than looks down. I hand her the muffin and the coffee, and turn to go towards my desk. Out of the corner of my eye I see her take a sip, and smile. It warms me inside to be the reason she's smiling. But I would like to know the reason why she was on the brink of tears. A few minutes later the door opens and in comes 2 students.
"Welcome ." I tell them, "Please take a seat anywhere you'd like." They sit 2 rows in front of Abbey, and soon the door opens again, and more students come in. After the students all file in I call class to order.
"Welcome students my name is Professor Liam O'Donnell, and I'll be your Professor for Ancient History 101. Shall we begin?"
