Its ten minutes to ten. Mike and Heather left five minutes ago. I've never really snuck out because I'm scared of what Mike would do. It's too late now though, I already agreed to going. I unlocked my window in case I needed to sneak back in. Half way down the street I see a car sitting. I can't see much but it looks like some ones watching me. It's probably my imagination.
When I reached Lynn she grinned at me.
" I Didn't think you'd show up." She says.
"Neither did I."
The party was full of people I've never met. Lynn grabbed my hand and led me through the crowd. Ben smiled at us with a beer in his hands. He offered us one and before I could say no, Lynn grabbed two beside him and gave me one. Some of Ben's friends called him over and he took Lynn with him. This is what I wanted to avoid. I walked out the back of the house. There was a group of people dancing to loud music near the pool. I sat by the edge and dipped my toes in. It had been a long time since I had gone swimming, I missed it. But, it would feel wrong to go without my sister, it was always our thing to do together. I closed my eyes and tilted my head back, remembering what it felt like to have the water rush past my skin, my hair dragging behind me. Someone grabbed my arm. My brown eyes flew open, and I opened my mouth in protest,
"He-", before I could finish my mouth was covered. I tried to stand up, but the way my feet hung over the side of the pool was awkward. No one paid attention to what was happening. As fast as lightening my body was lifted from the pool side, and I was brought to the side of the pool house. The moment I was put down my arms went flaring and I tried to scream for help. I didn't get far before my mouth was covered again.
"Stop, I'm trying to help you!" A deep voice whispered loudly.
"You're not safe anymore." My eyes widened in fear. Of course I wasn't safe right now. I started to struggle and he held me tighter. He was too strong. I managed to look in the dark blue eyes of my captor.
"Your birthday is coming near. Don't leave your house, and whatever you do don't tell anyone what happens."
Suddenly I was released, my body sagging back from the quickness of his release. I ran to the side of the pool house where the bulky man ran off, but no one was in sight. I sprinted back towards the house, passing the pool. I flew open the door and rushed through the crowd to find Ben and Lynn. They weren't near the kitchen counter anymore. I jogged up the stairs managing to knock some ones beer on them.
"Sorry!" I quickly murmured.
Barging into the first room, there was Lynn and Ben in a large room making out a bed with a ton of empty beer cans. I wanted to go home right away. They both looked up for a second then went back to sucking faces.
"Lynn! We need to leave right now." I shouted.
Lynn was about to say something when she vomited all over the floor. Great, we had no ride now. I knelt by her side and gently helped her to the bathroom to get her cleaned up.
"You need to go home. You're drunk." I sincerely told her.
Ben helped her down the stairs as I cleaned up. I washed my face with cold water, patting it dry and looked into the mirror. My skin had an unnatural shimmer to it. Was I hallucinating?
"I really have to use the bathroom", a girl begged.
I walked out of the bathroom and made my way to the stairs. As I walked down a few guys whistled at me. I had other things to worry about at the moment. Ben said he'd have a friend take Lynn home, he was too drunk to drive. He asked a few times if I needed a ride home, but I declined the offer. I didn't feel comfortable riding in a car with someone I didn't know. I had no other choice but to walk. The red door slammed shut behind me and I started my five mile walk.
One more mile to go and I'd be home. I couldn't stop thinking about what that guy said. What did he know that I didn't? And what was going to happen on my seventeenth birthday? I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't notice a white van following me. I moved onto the grass, nervous. It started to speed up, thinking it would pass I calmed down a little. It pulled up beside me and stopped. In a panic I tried to run into the closest yard, but my foot got caught on a short wire fence surrounding a rose bush. In pain I tripped and fell to the ground. The side door of the van opened. There was a pinching sensation in my neck, then everything went numb and I couldn't seem to keep my eyes open. Tall combat boots was the last thing I saw before everything went black.
