"Seriously Liam, you need to stop eating so much. There isn't going to be hardly any left for me!" I said, trying to take the large green bowl of popcorn away from him.
"Hey! Give it back! I'm your brother, we share." Liam said, taking the bowl back despite my grip on it.
"You are not my brother. Don't ever say that." I said trying to snatch a handful of popcorn but Liam held the bowl out of my reach.
"Step-brothers are still brothers."
"Would you let me have just one handful of popcorn?"
"Only if you tell me you love me, Lily." He said, smirking.
I raised my eyebrow as I stared at him smiling at the other end of the couch. "Not worth it." I said, bringing my feet up and crossing my arms over my chest. I watched the film that Liam had picked out, some stupid action film that had gotten one of the worst reviews last year.
"You pick really shit films, you know that?" I said as I watched a poorly produced car crash on the screen.
"You pick really shit boyfriends." Liam shrugged, referring to my recent break up. We had only dated for two months, and he turned out to be a boring jerk, if that was at all possible.
"True." I agreed, not having anything to go against him.
Liam snorted, and then moved the popcorn bowl so it sat between us. "Sweet success!" I cried as I dove my hand into the bowl before he could give his action a second thought.
I munched happily, and we were silent for a few moments. I turned my head slightly, studying Liam out of the corner of my eye. He was attractive, I had to admit it. His plump, pink lips looked like they would be heaven to taste, and he always seemed to have just the right amount of stubble along his jaw. He had shaved his hair a while back, but had recently let it grow out, so it was now styled in a small quiff. The way he wore he jeans was especially nice, slung low on his tight hips, but not baggy.
I wasn't allowed to voice these thoughts about him however, because his dad married my mom. It was a shame really. I had to look at him every day, watch him walk around sweaty and shirtless after he had been in the rec room working out, yet I couldn't do anything about it. Well, I couldn't do anything about it, which involved him.
I blinked a few times to bring myself back to reality, and found Liam was watching me look at him, an eyebrow raised. I was aware that I had brought my index finger up to rub along my bottom lip as I thought.
I thought quickly of a reason for why I had been staring at him. "When are you going to shave that cat off your face?"
His cocked brow lowered, as well as his other as he rubbed his facial hair. "It's not a cat. I shaved three days ago." He said, rubbing his cheek. I wondered what his stubble would feel like along the insides of my thighs, and pressed my thighs together.
Just in time, my mother entered the living room, saving me from having to struggle to make a coherent argument with Liam. She stood in front of the television, blocking it from Liam's view mostly. She had on a short teal dress, complete with black accessories. She and Liam's dad had a wedding that they were going to tonight.
"Are you two fighting, again?" She asked, hands on her hips, like always.
"No." We said in unison, which was probably suspicious but she let it slide because they were probably running late, like always.
"I don't want to come home to a crime scene, so please behave, alright?" She said, walking towards us and giving us both a kiss on the cheek. "Love you both." She said and clicked away. Liam's dad came in a few seconds later, handing Liam some money for pizza before telling us to behave and that no one was allowed over. I think he was saying that to me mainly, because Liam never had anyone over, save for Andy. Whatever Liam got up to, he didn't bring it home with him.
