It felt like forever. Hiding under their  master's desk. But in reality, it had just been 2 hours.
The girls were exhausted and wanted nothing but to get out of here.

Angelina was numb now. She didn't want to exhaust herself by over thinking like she always did. It would lead to nothing else but exhaustion.

Instead, she thought of it as a hide and seek game. Just like she played with her older brother.
Instead, here she was hiding for her life and the one searching for her wouldn't just tag her but kill her.

She started to count the number of flowers present on the carpet laying on the floor. It was maroon in color with black roses. It seemed really expensive. She knew this because her master had punished her for ruining it by spilling the tea on it. She could still make out the stain present on it. It wasn't that long ago. They didn't have the time to change it may be.
For her master immediately got rid of ruined objects.

The noises seemed to quieten down a bit outside. No cries or battle sounds could be heard. Maybe it ended. Or maybe everyone's dead.

Whatever it was, this was the perfect opportunity to escape.

Angelina peeked from the window present in the study.
Dead bodies were lying around everywhere. Blood spilling out their bodies. Some ripped to shreds even. She could see wolves laying around too.
'Why would someone kill the poor animals and why were they here in the battlefield in the first place' she thought.

Maybe they were using the wolves as allies. But why would someone use wolves it just didn't make any sense.

She couldn't make out who had won though.

"Do you think we can escape?" Angelina asked Lucy.

Lucy wasn't sure. She didn't want to get caught by either parties. But what if they made it. What if they escaped alive. They'd finally have their freedom.

"Let's give it a try. I think we can escape through the basement's escape route. If there aren't any guards present there. I think we can escape easily." Angelina assured Lucy.
The basement's escape route was for the vampires only so that when there were any sudden attacks like this the women and children could escape. But the humans were prohibited to escape so as to avoid the enemies to chase those escaped vampires.

'The vampires must have escaped already' Angelina thought to herself.

Lucy wasn't so sure but agreed with her friend anyway. 'They'd torcher them anyway if they were caught or not. What else they had to lose?' Lucy thought to herself.

They decided to move swiftly and carefully without making any noise towards the basement. The basement wasn't far away from the master's office.

Angelina peeked through the door to avoid any guards. As the coast was clear they moved quietly, crouching slightly without making a single noise. Their ears and eyes were sharp and attentive towards the slightest noise that was heard.

The girls eventually reached the stairs that led towards the basement. The hallway was dark with little dim light. But they managed to see through the dark as they were accustomed to it anyway.

Angelina took the lead and Lucy followed her closely. She stilled as they heard incoherent voices.

Guards...

The footsteps seem to come towards them. They started to panic. They didn't even reach the basement and they were going be caught.
They hid behind the pillar attached to the wall. Crossing their fingers and praying that they wouldn't get caught.
