Sakura had caught Sasuke staring at her, again. He'd been doing so for a while now, and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't shocked every time he did so.
What exactly had caused Sasuke Uchiha to suddenly pay any attention to her of all people?
::
Sasuke knew he was staring, far too often than he'd like. He also knew that she was aware of it, which was probably the only reason he hasn't stared at her throughout the entire class. He had to admit, Sakura Haruno was beautiful.
She wasn't Ino beautiful, or Hinata beautiful, she was her own type of beautiful. She lacked grace, but she replaced it with this high sense of confidence. She did not have long hair that flowed in the wind, rather she had short hair that bounced as she walked. He found it cute.
::
It's been two days, two days and yet Sasuke's stares never stopped. What did she do? Was he mad at her? Maybe he heard a strange rumour about her, or perhaps her hair had caught his attention? Her hair always caught unwanted attention.. although she wouldn't exactly call this situation unwanted.
As much as she liked the attention, she was unused to it. She never received such stares from people, they were always directed at Ino, Hinata or Tenten, even Temari got them when she came to visit. Sakura was the odd ball of the group, she could paint her face in makeup and change her entire wardrobe and she was sure that even then, she'd never catch the attention she wanted... especially not from Sasuke. Then, it suddenly clicked. She looked to her right, and saw Ino. Right there, scribbling away hastily as she tried to keep up with their lesson.
Sasuke had to be staring at Ino, she had simply misunderstood. He was never staring at her in the first place, obviously.
::
He was still staring at her, even when he didn't want to.
There she was, Sakura Haruno, seemingly unaware of his gaze as she glanced between him and her best friend. Why was she doing that? He watched as her demeanour suddenly became disappointed, only for her to straighten up, take a breath, and continue writing down her notes.
'Strange.' He thought.
::
Three weeks, that's how long it took before Sasuke's staring stopped. She assumed that whatever intrigued him about Ino had long since subsided. She yawned, she hadn't slept in class for a while. She could tell that even her teacher was shocked, however he said nothing. She leaned down on to her desk, cradling her head in her arms. With thoughts of a dark haired boy in her mind, she fell asleep.
::
Sasuke watched, a small smirk on his face as he saw the pink haired girl sleeping once again. He turned around, facing the board again. He supposed it was about time he introduced himself, after all, she probably wanted to know why he was staring at her.
::
"Sakura.." Ino muttered again, shaking her friend relentlessly. The girl wouldn't budge, how could she sleep so soundly? Especially on a desk?!
"I'll do it." She heard a voice say, turned to her right, she saw none other than Sasuke Uchiha, who she also knew was Sakura's life long crush.
She raised an eyebrow. "Alright, I guess..." she muttered, stepping back.
"Oi, Sakura!" He shouted, right into her ear..
"Ack!" That girl screamed, jerking up so suddenly that the force nearly sent her and her chair flying backwards. She would've actually fell backwards, had someone not steadied her.
She looked around, feeling a hand on her back as she got up. The hand belonged to Sasuke, who seemed to be.. helping her? Why was her helping her? Why was he even here?
"Uh.. thanks?" She said, though it sounded more like a question.
"No problem, I'm Sasuke by the way." He said, offering her a hand.
'I know.' Sakura thought, fighting the urge to blush as she took his hand and shook it. "I'm Sakura, nice to meet you. Would've been nicer if you hadn't broken my ear drum.."
Sasuke laughed, although it was quiet. "Let's be friends, Sakura."
Sakura nearly choked on air, he wanted to be friends with her! She never thought she'd see the day..
"I'd love to, Sasuke." She Stuttered out, allowing her blush to finally adorn her cheeks.
Ino, who was watching everything from the classroom door, grinned. She turned on her heel, walking out of the class and down the hall, allowing the two to converse on their own.
Barely two minutes after, Sasuke and Sakura walked out together, talking animatedly to one another. This was definitely the start of something.
It was strange, Sasuke never expected a laid back girl like Sakura to be his friend, and Sakura never expected someone as cool as Sasuke to ask. Yet here they were, walking down the halls as their friendship began to bloom. Neither of them knew it, but they were both hoping it'd turn into something more.
