Maybe, just maybe, if you wish hard enough, it might get granted, and fate might change.
Jaemin woke up to the sound of heavy raindrops hitting the window pane. He had a terrible headache and he felt his heart beating extremely hard within his chest.
Jaemin got up and sat on the side of the bed, both feet on the floor. He massaged his temple slightly trying to reduce the pain of his headache, eyes still closed.
When he opened his eyes, Jaemin realized that the interior of the room was entirely different from when the last time he remembered, which should be just minutes before, or an hour to be the longest.
Jaemin was really taken aback with the unfamiliar view in front of him. He ended up blinking and rubbing his eyes repeatedly, trying to snap out of his daydream, if only he was daydreaming.
A terrified look was evident on Jaemin's facial expression. Too many questions were asked in his head but none of them appeared to have any answers. Jaemin struggled to calm himself down and roamed his gaze on every inch of the room.
His eyes finally landed on the calendar that was hung on the wall and widened involuntarily.
23rd April 1818
Jeno. It was the only thing in his mind. He got up immediately and almost fall back on the bed due to vertigo caused by the sudden change of movement.
Jaemin blinked repeatedly again, trying to clear his vision. He wiped away the tears on the brim of his eyelids that threatened to fall with the back of his hand.
'Tears, I don't need you right now! I need to figure out what is going on.'
He tried to get up again and stood for a while to maintain his balance. When he was convinced that he was not going to fall again, he picked up his pace and started running towards the door and headed downstairs.
Jaemin passed by several people in the house but none of them appeared like they could see him. Jaemin was confused but he did not bother stopping to ask or make his presence noticeable to them. His mind was too occupied with something more important at the moment.
He reached the front door and felt quite glad that it was widely opened. It was raining heavily outside that evening and Jaemin hesitated for a second.
He could see flashes of lightning and hear thunders rumbling in the sky. He could also feel the cold wind blowing on his skin. Jaemin stepped outside slowly and felt raindrops fell on his skin, soaking his clothes wet. Everything felt so real.
Jaemin was back in time. Too far back.
He snapped out of his trance and started to run again. He was heading to a place, the place that was far too familiar as he had spent his whole spring break there. The route was not much different from how he remembered it.
Jaemin was not really sure himself about what was actually happening or how long he will be in his current state. However, something kept on budging his gut deep down and he refused to give up until he got the answers to his own questions.
'Please don't do it yet. Please, Jeno. Please wait for me. Please, I'm begging you, don't let me be too late.'
Jaemin kept on repeating the words over and over again like mantras under his breath. He kept on begging to God, to the stars and the Universe, to anything that could hear him at the moment, in between his steps and the heavy rain.
When he reached the church, yes that one and only church, he saw the doors were wide opened and heard someone yelling from inside. He sprinted his way in, just in time to see Jeno unsheathed his dagger and brought it close to his chest. His eyes were empty.
