Project: Becoming Iain Hargreave. Basically my Q&A and reason for writing the fan fic.
(tsk, tsk....Lucky Quinn)
I figured Iain is a much tamer, saner version but just as equally captivating that he doesn't come off boring. Plus the story of a man who built a company around a website in these very uncertain economic times, really piqued my curiosity. Iain's persona was actually more centered around Josh Hartnett's character in the Indie movie, August, where he plays Tom Sterling, the fast paced, smooth talking leader of the e-commerce revolution. Aside from the hard, party boy and shrewd businessman exterior, Hartnett manages to make Tom likable, vulnerable even that he has an Achilles heel for some unrequited relationship that never worked out because of the sacrifices he made in order to save his empire. I felt that Iain should share the same qualities, but with a far more complex depth that screams tortured society boy, self-made billionaire alpha male.
Other notes on Q:
· Quinn has ridiculously low self esteem and no matter times she is told she is pretty beautiful it means nothing.
· Her self worth is valued against what others think.
· Appearances are everything because from Quinn has been taught without those appearances she is nothing, something that Glee has very kindly confirmed over and over again.
· When Quinn makes mistakes she gets called out on them and gets called out on them big and gets massive consequences thrown her way. While others belittle her problems.
· Quinn never showed any interest in Joe. When the girls were talking to her about it, she never mentioned how she felt that and that it didn't matter what she wanted, even when they were at the rehab it was all about what Joe wanted and Quinn didn't seem to be in it at all.
· This is funny because that sounds kind of familiar... Quinn was never that into Finn, they were together because it was somewhat expected and it would have boosted their both their popularity because let's not kid ourselves, Finn was in that for exactly the same reason.
· I can't work out what the deal with Puck was, I do know they had sex because she was feeling bad about herself and Puck took advantage of that, got her drunk and lied about contraception.
· Over all, I have no idea if Quinn was into it or not, I tend to go more no than yes.
· Sam was a similar situation to Finn that there was the popularity boost, and trying to regain what she lost but Sam had to push for it a lot and seemed to be more into it.
· So expectations and Quinn feeling bad about herself tends to lead her to relationships.
· The other thing is Quinn does self destructive things, in particular, self destructive things to push people away. She cheated on Sam and Finn, and created ridiculous lies that people should have been able to call her out on. Quinn has been shown to be able to lie well, so why would she create such ridiculous lies unless she wanted to be called out on them?
