Hallie's POV:
I couldn't breathe. My head swirled with thoughts. I was so lost in my own confusion that I didn't even realize Spencer had left the closet and was now walking over to me, Izzy trailing behind,
"Babe, hear me out-" He started, but I quickly cut him off,
"How long?" I asked, nothing but anger and rage in my voice,
"Um...Well..." He looked for the right words,
"HOW. LONG?" I resisted the urge to cry,
"3 months..." His voice trailed off. He was about to continue but quickly stopped, realizing what I was about to do. I cocked my arm and came down at his face with a forceful slap. It rang out in the hallway and I looked at Izzy's horrified face, mouth open in shock. I walked over to her and placed my finger under her chin,
"Close your mouth sweetie, you look like a trout," I smirked and walked away, hiding my tears.
News in our school spreads fast, so I wasn't surprised when, as I walked down the hall, all heads turned and whispered about the breakup, but I'd been trained for situations like this one. I held my head high, held my impeccable posture, and walked down the hall.
That night, all I could hear was my ringer going off every 2 minutes, with texts from Spencer begging for forgiveness. I threw my phone across the room. Screw him. Screw Izzy. Screw everyone. I wiped my eyes and looked in the mirror. I ran my hands over my stomach, No wonder he broke up with you for Izzy. She's tiny and petite and oh-so-thin. I turned away from the mirror and went downstairs, my brother Tommy was sitting on the couch, watching football with his best friend, Jax.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!" Tommy yelled, standing up and pointing at the TV, "WHY AREN'T THEY CALLING THAT?!"
"Tommy shut the fuck up. The whole neighborhood can hear you," I said, sitting in a chair next to Jax,
"Sorry Hal," He mumbled, looking at the TV,
"I'm getting some water, you guys want anything?" I asked, getting up,
"Yeah, I'll take a soda, so will Jax, and could you bring chips, pretzels and the meat spread-thingy in the fridge?" Tommy said, smiling at me,
"You're such a Jackass," I snapped back, walking into the kitchen, I heard someone get up and follow me. I opened the fridge and stuck my head in.
"Hey," I heard an adorable voice say from the doorway.
Jax Parker. I've known him since Pre-K. Sure, I've always had a crush on him, but I would NEVER act on it. He's a Senior, I'm a Junior. He's my brother's best friend, so he off limits. Not like I would try anything, he's my best friend too. I took bubble baths with the guy, I could basically tell him anything. But he was SO cute. He had this longish black hair and perfect blue eyes. Since he was captain of the football team, he was stereotypically tall, strong, and muscular. He was the perfect guy. He was sweet, friendly and literally the boy next door. He's lived across the street for 16 years.
"Hey," I replied, pulling stuff out of the fridge, "What's up?" He took a step closer,
"So, uh, I heard you and Spencer Stone broke up," He said, looking at me nervously,
"Yup. Kind of a relief, you know? He wasn't the best boyfriend. He'd always blow me off to go do...god knows what,"
"You want me to beat him up?"
I laughed and handed him a soda, "Would you?"
"Sure. You're like my sister," He opened the soda, "I'd do anything for you,"
I felt my cheeks getting red, then I felt lightheaded, then dizzy, I felt the waterbottle slip from my hands, my knees go weak and I felt myself falling. I heard Jax's muffled voice calling my name, my ears were ringing, and I felt his strong arms scoop me up off the ground, then everything went blac
