All I Need is the Crown...

Hallie's POV:

I am Hallie Sorenson. All my life, I've been told that I have to win.  At anything and everything I did.  Whether it was dance, cheer or homecoming, I had to win.  And believe me, winning everything makes life VERY easy. I had the perfect boyfriend, Spencer Stone, Captain of the lacrosse team, and all the friends I could ever want. My 2 best friends, Izzy and Jessica, were my campaign managers for my homecoming queen campaign. My mother was a homecoming queen, and so was her mom. It's what I've been working toward since I was 10. All I knew was that crown would be put on my head in front of the entire school.

I stared at the crown through the glass cabinet in the main hall of Stonebrook High. I felt a strong pair of arms wrap around my waist,

"Hey, beautiful," My boyfriend Spencer whispered in my ear as I turned to face him, "You looking at that stupid crown again?" I playfully slapped his arm,

"It is not stupid! It's my legacy. All Sorenson women are meant to have them. It's just my turn to take the throne," I said, linking my arm with his,

"Whatever, I just don't wanna see you disappointed if you...you know..." He answered,

"If I what, Spence? LOSE?!"

"No! No, no, no. Of course not. Baby, everyone loves you!" He put his hands on my arms,

"They kind of do, don't they?" I giggled and walked into class, leaving him in the hall.

Not to be conceited, but when I say I was pretty, it's an understatement. I was gorgeous.  My long auburn hair fell into natural waves just above my waistline. I had huge doe eyes, the color of green emeralds, dancing in moonlight. I was used to having eyes on me, but something felt different today. Shaking the feeling, I watched the clock, heard the bell and ran off to lunch. I plopped at a table that sat Jess, Izzy and I, and no one else. I opened my lunch box, emptied its contents, and just stared at them,

"Everything okay, Hal?" Jess asked, taking out her salad,

"Um, yeah, yeah everything's good," I answered, not looking up. Izzy took my hand,

"C'mon Hal, we know when somethings up. Just tell us, "She said, a sympathetic look on her face. I broke out into tears,

"I got my dress the other day, and it fit perfectly, it's this GORGEOUS blue Ambrogio Noto dress, and I tried it on again this morning and...and..."

"Let it out hun, "Izzy reassured me, squeezing my hand,

"And it wouldn't zip!" I continued, sobbing into my hands. Izzy and Jess looked at each other, horrified,

"Are you sure?!" They asked in unison,

"Positive. This is terrible. I have to lose 10 pounds by homecoming or I am SCREWED," I whined looking up, wiping my eyes.  Suddenly, Izzy looked up and glanced across the room,

"I am so sorry, Hal, that's beyond awful. Excuse me a minute, "She hastily said, getting up and power walking out the door,

"What is up with her?" Jess asked,

"Great question," I responded, "I'm gonna find out, watch our stuff, " I got up and ran down the hall, my heels clicking against the tile. I followed Izzy down a hall, hid behind a door, and watched her slip into a room. I followed her, placed my hand on the doorknob, and flung the door open.

I saw Izzy.

Making out.

With my boyfriend.
