The clothes were flung, the hair was pulled, the makeup was applied, the clothes were chosen, the hair was tied up and the eyeliner was redone because too much was put on.
Mikaela and Rae looked at each other, both of them shocked at each other.
They really did look the same. Identical twins definitely could pull off the perfect identity theft.
"So you're going to Eve's house party," Mikaela told Rae.
"And you're going to the beach party," Rae ended. They nodded in sync.
"Do you think we'll pull it off?" Rae shrugged her shoulders. It was shocking but they both were now on the same wavelength, they both understood each other like never before.
It was good in some way but Mikaela was just another duplicate of Rae. But for today especially Mikaela didn't care, she was going to see Blake.
"Are you going to invite Jared and Nicky?" Rae asked Mikaela. Mikaela hit her head with her hand. "I was so horrible to them recently, I need to apologise."
Rae brushed down her vest top and light blue shorts. "Then go apologise," she told her sister. "What are you waiting for?" Rae had changed for the better good. She actually talked common sense now.
Mikaela nodded her head before checking herself in the mirror for one final time before making her way down the stairs.
"See you in a bit Rae," she said goodbye to her sister.
"Bye," she replied.
Their relationship was so different now it was scary to think they hardly spoke before.
Mikaela's first priority was to apologise sincerely to Jared and Nicky. It wasn't fair on them that they had to suffer from her own mistakes.
Mistake 1: Not denying she was Rae.
Mistake 2: Falling in love with Blake.
Mistake 3: Getting drunk and nearly having sex with Elliot.
Mistake 4: Having sex with Blake.
Mistake 5: Taking out her anger on Jared and Nicky.
Mikaela's walking turned to a jog as she made her way to Nicky's house first. It was more of a possibility that Jared would be at Nicky's then his own.
She knocked on the door consecutively three times. Mikaela's mind was going through many ideas of what could happen.
But she knew there was only two real situations that could happen. They would forgive her and share a warm hug. Or tell her to do one before shutting the door in her face.
As soon as Nicky opened the door Mikaela was pouting in despair.
"Oh look it's our silent friend," Nicky sarcastically greeted Mikaela. Jared walked up, his head looking over Nicky's shoulder. He was not at all impressed that Mikaela was here.
"Nicky, Jared, I am so sorry," she spoke. Her hands together as if she was praying. Nicky was convinced Mikaela was sorry but just for the fun of it she felt the need to prolong the apology.
"What was it you did again?" Nicky asked, she just wanted Mikaela to say how she saw it.
"I ignored you guys, and I didn't stick up for you when he asked," I admitted. I had been a terrible friend.
"So you think you can just walk up and ask for forgiveness?" Nicky said to Mikaela, looking her right in the eye. Nicky had every right not to forgive
Mikaela.
Then again, their friendship couldn't end like this.
"Listen, you may not accept my apology but I'm going to a party and I would love my two bestfriends to be there," Mikaela did her puppy dog eyes that melted Nicky's heart.
She flung her arms around her pulling her into her body. Mikaela began grinning as they shared in an affectionate hug.
"Nicky you forgive way to easily-."
"Oh just get in here," Nicky interrupted Jared pulling him into the hug. The three of them shared a hug that was as squashed as hell but with a lot of love.
"So tell me more about this party," Nicky wanted to know more. Departing from their group hug.
"All you need to know is free food."
*
The party was in full swing already with the drunks dancing, the serious laughing, and people kissing.
Mikaela felt a wave of ease as she immersed herself within the crowds on the beach. She had truly missed this lifestyle.
Nicky and Jared looked around grinning their faces off. "Where's the food?" Nicky asked. I looked around. I spotted a few places to get food. I pointed in that direction.
Nicky trotted towards the food with Jared just behind her.
"RAE!" The familiar sound of Andrea calling her name caused Mikaela's lips to form a smile. She turned at the sound of her sisters name.
Mikaela almost leaped onto Andrea. They shared a warm loving hug, as Andrea wanted to depart, Mikaela held onto her for dear life.
It was like Mikaela hadn't seen Andrea in years, with Mikaela it felt like a lifetime, but for Andrea only several hours,
"Never knew you loved me this much." Andrea spoke up, causing Mikaela to depart finally from their hug.
"Sorry, it's just I love seeing you," Mikaela honestly responded. Mikaela could see why Rae would hang out with Andrea she was an awesome girl, inside and out.
"Love you too Rae," they both shared a loving look of friendship. "Come on Blake and Elliot are waiting for us down by the campfire," Mikaela fought back the smirk that would have appeared on her lips.
She was finally going to see him. It felt like centuries that she was away from him even though it was only a few days.
Andrea and Mikaela walked arm in arm down to the campfire. Blakes brunette hair was the first she saw of him. As his whole body was turned towards the fire.
A smile crept up on her mouth as she drew closer to him. "Blake," Mikaela called him, he turned around grinning. Andrea let go of Mikaela as Blake closed the gap between him and Mikaela. Placing his lips straight on Mikaela's.
Mikaela's heart skipped a few beats, the softness of his lips on hers, the passion was back. She could feel the love.
The kiss wasn't too long much to Mikaela's dismay.
Blake's hand still lay on Mikaela's waist, he leaned in. Mikaela hoped for another kiss however, he missed her lips and lingered around her ears.
"Let's get some peace and quiet," he whispered. A smile crept onto her lips. She nodded.
Mikaela wanted Blake all to herself, where no one else could see him, want him, think of him.
Just the two of them. Andrea looked to caught up in the fire, with Elliot's arm flung over her neck.
Mikaela and Blake walked together along the beach.
The wind blew both their hairs, only Blake's hand felt warm. Mikaela wanted to say so much to him. How much she missed him, but she knew it was pointless.
He thinks she's Rae, the only way it would work out between them was if she went along with it.
They entered into a staff only shack. Mikaela felt so nervous incase anyone came in.
The shack was full of surf boards and wet suits.
"What if someone comes in?" Mikaela whispered.
"Then we just play it cool," Mikaela started a laugh before Blake's lips crashed on hers. So many feelings all built into that one urgent kiss.
Mikaela's arms wrapped around Blake. Her lips kissing back just as urgently. Blake's hands on her waist pulling her into him.
Mikaela's hands scrunched Blake's hair. As his lips moved to her neck.
Mikaela was lost, she didn't know what to think. Her mind was all over the place.
As Blake's kissing intensified, sending goosebumps down Mikaela's whole body.
She didn't care about herself, she didn't care about Rae. All she knew was that she wanted Blake.
And Blake wanted her.
Blake's mouth moved to her ear, she could hear his slow breathing patterns. "Rae," he whispered so seductively, that if Blake had kissed for longer she would have ignored him as he called for her sister.
But hearing Blake whisper Rae's only made her more aware that she wasn't Rae. She was never Rae and she would never be Rae.
She slowly departed her hands, which clung to Blake's hair just moments before.
Mikaela's shifting away, caught Blake's interest, as his lips were forced to leave her face.
He stood there looking at Mikaela. Not sure why she had stopped.
Mikaela had hardly thought about a time she would have to tell Blake the truth. But somehow, she felt now of all times to tell him the truth.
"Blake, I need to tell you something," Mikaela's phone rang. She looked at the caller ID.
Andrea.
She picked up the phone. "Where did you think you were going off to ehh?" Andrea joked. Mikaela let out a forced laugh.
"We're in the staff only shack, you should come with Elliot," Blake furrowed his eyebrows, oblivious to why Rae invited them to join them in their time together.
When Mikaela put her phone back in her pocket. Blake scratched his head. "What did you want to say then," his voice sounding weary.
"I think it's better if we wait for Andrea and Elliot," Blake pursed his lips, trying to close the gap between them. Mikaela immediately stepped back.
She couldn't let herself get in that situation again. A situation where she lost all thoughts, nothing mattered to her only Blake.
"It's better if we don't," as Mikaela spoke it hurt her to say these words to Blake, someone she cared so much for.
They waited in silence until Elliot and Andrea came busting through the door. Beer cans in both of their hands.
"Are we having a mini party or something?" Elliot asked rather chirpy. He had obviously been drinking quite a bit. He couldn't seem to sense the mood straight away. It took him a while as he stared at Mikaela and Blake.
Both their faces gloomy. Elliot's smile went away.
"Now can you say?" Mikaela nodded. Blake was becoming quite frustrated with the situation. He only assumed she had cheated on him. But why bring Elliot and Andrea? He thought.
"I-I," Mikaela stuttered. She didn't know what to say, it wasn't like she had planned on telling them. Especially today of all days. "I'm not Rae," her voice was a whisper, but everyone heard loud and clear. There was silence for five seconds before Blake spoke up for everyone's curiosity.
"What do you mean you're not Rae?" He pressed her for more answers.
"What I mean is that," she paused. "I'm not Rae, my name isn't Rae," Blake started fake laughing.
"Then what is it?" None of them were buying it.
"Mikaela," she replied. This time making eye contact with all of them. Andrea covered her mouth.
"No way in hell," Andrea muttered. She was the only one who knew of Mikaela's existence out of the group. She knew Rae had an identical twin sister. Blake and Elliot looked at Andrea then between themselves then back at Andrea.
"Who's Mikaela?" Elliot asked.
"Rae's twin," Andrea stared at Mikaela, slowly moving towards her.
"I thought your sister died?" Blake asked. But Mikaela's eyes were fixated on Andreas. She moved closer, analysing her.
"I lied." Blake wasn't laughing anymore. He didn't think she was lying. Yet he still didn't understand what she meant.
"You're Mikaela, Rae's twin sister?" Andrea asked for confirmation. Mikaela nodded. "Why would you do that what happened to Ra-?" Andrea stopped mid sentence. She feared the worst. "Don't tell me she's," Andrea was on the brink of tears.
"No she's not," Mikaela responded quickly. Breathing heavily. "She was, I mean we thought she was, for a good few months, but then, she came back," Andrea shook her head.
"I don't want to believe it," Mikaela took out her phone and started soaking a number.
"Rae," she spoke into the phone.
"What?" She replied.
"I think you should come to the party, at the beach." Mikaela continued to persuade Rae to come to the beach and to meet her in the staff only shack. After a good five minutes, Rae said she would be twenty minutes.
The twenty minutes was the longest wait she felt she ever had.
They continued pressing her for answers. She ended up explaining how it was a misunderstanding from the start but it turned into something meaningful.
They didn't believe her, they didn't want to anymore. Everything seemed a lie to them now.
She was a weirdo, freak, psycho to them. Just as she was from the beginning.
Rae finally found the shack door. On entering she loudly spoke.
"You don't know how hard-," Rae's eyes were open in shock as she saw the room full of not only Mikaela but Blake, Elliot and Andrea. "Hey guys," Rae greeted them, just as she always would.
She looked to Mikaela.
"I told them the truth," Mikaela said. Rae looked across the faces of those Mikaela had hurt.
"You're Rae," Blake whispered. His eyes moving between Rae and Mikaela. "You look just alike."
"We are identical," Rae said light heartedly trying to lighten the mood. But that was never going to happen.
Andrea burst into tears. She looked at Rae before running out the door. She was hurt, she had heard lie after, after lie.
What was real what wasn't went over in Andrea's mind over and over.
"I mean we even," he looked at Mikaela. "We even had sex," Mikaela shut her eyes hard.
"You had what?" Rae said quizzically. Shocked to find it out. "Are you actually serious?" Blake felt sick. He needed to get away from the two of them.
Mikaela could see Blake was eager to go. She didn't want him to. She did care for his welfare.
"Blake please I-."
"Don't," he said. His voice angry and bitter. "Just don't," he finished. His voice more gentle now. He walked past Mikaela, Rae and Elliot and left the room.
Mikaela followed him out the door. She saw his body language became nervous and flinching. He walked away, his hands on his head .
He didn't know what to do, then the tears came.
But Mikaela didn't see the tears, she saw the back of the boy she loved and cared for. Someone she didn't want out her life and she had just lost him.
