Jersey Wearing

I wrote this when season two ended but I have been neglecting to post it. I have no idea if jersey wearing means you are dating the person. Pretty sure I remember it from John Tucker Must Die.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy!

Cyrus' POV

It's a relief that I no longer feel like I have to pick sides. Now that Buffy is part of a girls basketball team it doesn't feel like I'm picking her over TJ or TJ over Buffy. Sometimes they would even accompany me to the others games. However, it seems that that time has come to an end. The girl's team has been undefeated in all of their games. The boy's team has been undefeated in all of their games. Which is great for the school's reputation. But not great for the students. And it's not great for me either.

Buffy and TJ have been going at each other's throats, and they've also been trying to suck-up to me. The reason being: only one of our school's teams can go to the final. And to solve this, the boy's team and girls team are going to have a game against each other. Of course, I want to cheer for them both, but Buffy has been my best friend for a long time. And like I told Buffy before.. as much as I hate it, if it comes down to Buffy or TJ, I will always choose my best friend.

I sit alone in the library working on signs for the girl's basketball team and one especially for Buffy. Normally I have Andi working beside me, she has all the creative power, but she is spending the last weeks of school with Jonah before he leaves for camp, and with Bowie, before he leaves for tour. Hopefully, she has time to revamp my signs.

A chair skirts across the floor as someone plops into it. Looking up I am not surprised when I am met with TJ's teasing eyes.

"So you're cheering for Buffy after all, huh?"

I frown "I already feel guilty enough, please don't do this to me."

He chuckles "Sorry, sorry." He grabs a sign and starts helping me, coloring in the bubble letters "I get it. She's your best friend." Softly he adds "And she did already beat me once.. going with the statistical winner is smart. Usually."

"I have a feeling this game is going to go neck-in-neck.. and last a really long time."

"Are you going to fall asleep again, Summersault?"

"You can't blame me for that. I got tired of keeping score, and I really don't understand one on ones." I defend "I don't understand why you guys can't merge teams."

"That's too big and complicated. It would take time to get approval, too." TJ shrugs "Plus, it's more fun this way." For a while, we quietly work on the signs "I know you'll be inwardly cheering for the both of us, but-"

I groan "Oh here we go-"

TJ playfully glares "I'm not asking you to shout my name. Or the team's name. Or to make us fancy signs. But there is one thing you can do for me that I know Buffy wouldn't mine."

"I doubt that, but I'm intrigued. Go on."

"You can wear my jersey," he starts pulling it out of his bag "I can't imagine you wearing Buffy's."

"Not my stature. But I could always make a custom t-shirt for her," I take his jersey from his hands "your's will be a bit large on me." I hesitate "I don't think she'll approve of this."

TJ chuckles "Of course she will. But do you? I mean," TJ suddenly grows nervous and with a big breath he asks "will you?"

________________________________________________________________________________

I bring up the topic casually and with little time to spare. The game is only the next day. I am almost sure she is going to say no. She wouldn't even let me make a small sign with his team name on it. She practices alone and I watch as we banter back and forth.
