I flopped down on his bed
"Yo man, ya fat ass gon break it" he said holding his arm out, I kissed my teeth
"Man this bed raggedy anyways" I chuckled
"But man ion think I wanna go to school no more, especially after today" he said sitting down on his bed
"Right man, aye... why you always passin out?" I asked
"Well cause my mama told me when I was born I had clots of blood in my head, but they went away now" he said
"Ew" I said as he kissed his teeth
"You still hang with Tyrese?" He asked
"Man hell nah, that fake ass boy, he just mad he got his ass beat" I said
"Yo I been thinkin, about our gangs" I started
"Man you still talk about that" he said
"Yeah, I mean maybe we shouldn't get too attached to each other, like hang out with each other" i said he looked at me sideways
"What you mean, you gon change on me cause we scared of yo gang?" He asked
"Ian scared I'm jus sayin what if you jus tryna get dirt on me for yo crew" I said

"Well act like it cause since you always bringin up the gangs it seem like you might be the one to sell me out" he said then I stood up
"Wtf you tryna say, cause ian no snitch, you the one weak lookin for help" I said gettin on his face
"Lookin for help!? Since fuckin when? You the one who couldn't stay away from me when Iron was with us, you was so scared you asked me for shanks!" He shouted then we heard footsteps come up the stairs
"You bein fake asf right now B!" He shouted
"Fake when all I did was ask a goddamn question!" I shouted as our mom came in
"What the hell is going on?" She said coming in and standing in between us
"Honestly its like ever since we became friends, you been doin shit to fuck it up" he said
I kissed my teeth
"Nah that's you, you raised by females, so you act like a bitch" I said then he hit me and we started fighting leaving Tisha to break it up
"Stop it right now! You two are blood brothers, you care so much about a gang that won't give a damn if y'all died so stop it!" She shouted as we stopped and stood on opposite sides of the room.
"Listen, i dont know why you all care about being true to some gang, it's stupid okay, it's real stupid, you're brothers and in this environment all you have in family, tell me if one of y'all died how would the other feel... BJ?" She asked
"Man of course I'd care he jus bein a punk right now" I said
"Michael?" She asked as he stayed quiet

"Michael?" My mom asked again
"Man" i said looking off
"See he wouldn't even care" BJ said
I just looked down
My mom sighed, "He does.... I'm gonna leave you two to talk alone and no arguing" she said leaving and closing the door
"So you really wouldn't care if I died huh?" He asked I kissed my teeth
"Ian say that" I said
"You ain't say you would either tho" he said picking up my basketball
I just shook my head
"You still trash at basketball" he said
"Mannn, i technically won last time" I said smiling
"Pft by like 2 points" he said
"I'll play you in a game right now" he said
"Ard what time is it?" I asked
"7:56" he said
"Ard we gon go to the court and play a couple of games whoever win the most, get a prize" I said
"Aight bet" he said
I grabbed the ball and we walked back downstairs to see my mom on the phone
"Ma we goin to the park" I said as she nodded and mouthed 'be safe'

"But for real tho, would you care?" I asked while dribbling

Time flew pass hella quick before we knew it, it was dark as hell

The night cold
Me and Mike walkin down the street,
"We shouldn't be walkin this time a night" he said
"What time is it Mike" I asked him
"Man its 11" he said
"11!" I said shocked
He chuckled "Yea 11" he said
We continued walking but I couldn't shake the feeling of somebody followin us
I sped up my walk grabbing his arm
Then we heard a car swerve
"Y'all thought y'all was gone" the voice said I couldn't see the face
Then I heard it
Everything goes black

The car speeds off
I look down to see me holding a dead Mike, I look at my shoulder and see a bullet wound and one in my side, I wasn't worried about that right now, a lifeless Michael was on my lap
I pinched myself to wake up, but it wasn't working
People started running out of their houses, cops showed up, the ambulance, mom, dad, brosia
They tried to pull him away from me but I wouldn't let them
"Bryce let him go" my dad said trying to pull me away
