Warning: This story is going to be a bit dark at times, but there is definitely going to be fluff and happiness, too. :)

I tried to pry my eyes open through the heavy exhaustion, but it was proving to take too much effort. The only thing that didn't take effort was taking in the smells of what I can only describe as plastic, metal, and something clinical.

With a lot of will power I was finally able to open my eyes, only to blink rapidly and squint in order to try to adjust to the bright light shining in my eyes. It reminded me of one of those overhead lights you see in dentist offices, only it was much more intimidating and I was definitely not at the dentist office.

Within a few seconds I started seeing slight movement to my right side but I couldn't move my head to get a better look. That's when I realized I was paralyzed, and I could immediately feel my heart begin pounding painfully against my chest as my nervousness began growing.

After a few more seconds my surroundings became more clear, and with even more effort, I was able to slowly turn my head to the right. That's when I saw the tall grey alien being next to me.

He stood eerily still, slowly tilting his head while staring down at me. Though his face was emotionless, I could sense curiosity, perhaps even amusement and frustration, as he studied me while I studied him.

"Why are you not scared?" he demanded. His voice was monotone but I could tell his question was meant to be intimidating.

My mouth parted open in both shock and amazement. The fact that I was here, laying on a table in a UFO, looking at an alien merely inches away from me whom I'm about to have a conversation with was the most bizarre and amazing thing to ever happen to me. Like most people I've spent my whole life looking up at the stars, wondering if there's other life out there and if so will they come here to meet us in my lifetime? And all of the alien abduction stories, were they true? We've all spent our lives pondering those questions, never knowing fact from fiction. All I know is I've always dreamed of the moment I'd get to meet alien life, though the circumstances were always different in my daydreams it doesn't change the fact I'm one of the lucky ones who gets to know the truth: they're out there. They're real.

"I..." I started, my voice sounded tiny as I was unable to find confidence in my voice, and also not knowing exactly what to say. Not knowing exactly what I was feeling because I was feeling so many things. "I'm a little nervous... and in shock."

If intimidation is what he was looking to do he at least succeeded in that. How could I not feel extremely insignificant and powerless when face-to-face with a highly advanced alien species? I feel like a specimen on a petri dish being studied by a scientist.. which, come to think of it, that's kind of exactly what I am right now.

"Why am I here?" I finally asked. It was a cliche question to ask, but straight to the point and the first thing I wanted to know.

"You have no need for concern, human."

Before I could question further, everything started blurring again and I felt very drugged all of a sudden.

"I feel dizzy..." I managed to whisper as my eyes began fluttering shut on their own.

Right after closing my eyes, I felt pressure and something sharp pushing into my forehead. My eyes quickly flashed open in response to the pain, and that's when I caught a glimpse of a long, sharp tool sliding into my face. Then, the taste of blood filled my mouth.

"Close your eyes." I barely heard him demand over the high pitch buzzing sound that was growing loud in my ears. I was fading too quickly to question him. So I did as he said.

What could have been seconds - or an eternity - later, I slowly opened my eyes only to find myself laying in an awkward sideways position on top of the covers of my bed. The next thing I noticed was my sleep shirt was inside-out and I had a pounding headache. That's when I suddenly remembered the last thing I saw before I went unconscious, and I immediately flew my hand up to my forehead and ran to my bathroom mirror. To my complete shock, there was nothing there but redness, but after further examination of my body I found a small oddly-shaped incision on the palm of my hand.

This really happened...
