"There are many forms of pure evil. Some say it's the devil, others say it's the famous dictators of our past time; I say its here."

Ashley's eyes glazed over the spring weeds and wild flowers growing upon the banks of the road side ditch that ran alongside the car. The January mornings were still moping in winter, but spring had the sun out and it was shining blindingly bright in the faces of all the drivers journeying down this winding road.

She glanced over from the passenger seat at her uncle, his eyes were transfixed on the road and his brow was furrowed deeply into a frown. Was he frowning about where they were heading or was it something else? She wondered.

He hadn't verbalised his disapproval but Ashley had seen the evident reluctance in his eyes when she received a letter accepting her work experience application for Dale-creek Hill and inviting her to a taster day.

Her Uncle disapproved of most things, more so what she specialized in than anything else but what was there to be said, Ashley was an aspiring psychologist and everything different about a person opened up a grisly fascination within her. She'd dealt with normal people and those in a crisis and others under stress but she found herself bored by their monotone minds and standard human issues. What caught her hook, line and sinker was those who were ' bark raving mad' to put it quite frankly.

She became absorbed in the missing pieces and warped parts of their minds, they were like marvellous puzzles laid out especially for her.

Ashley turned her eyes towards the road with a soft, bemused grunt, you could say she spent more time with the loonies than she did with the sane and civilized.

She perked up when she spotted a sign half submerged by nettles with "Dale-Cre-" in view. She'd been unaware that Dale-Creek even had a facility that required psychologists and researching on the internet hadn't given her anything much to chew over other than it was some form of Asylum. Ashley had joined an online site only a few months ago that promoted her skills and experience but had never given it much thought until she received a notification from Dale-Creek Hill a week ago. It had been a generic Ad in her inbox asking for staff with experience in the field and offering work experience with the severely psychologically disturbed. She nearly hopped in the car to drive herself to the Asylum that very minute and she couldn't even drive yet!

Now so close to her destination Ashley was anxious to arrive and take in her possible work place.

"This is it" murmured her Uncle turning the steering wheel left into a partially concealed driveway, ivy having had its wicked way over the metal gates that were most likely rusted open. Her Uncle made a few grunting noises as he eyed the sides of the car through the wing mirrors squeezing through the gates, there being minimal space between the shiny metallic blue of his ford and the flaking, black paint threatening to make contact.

'Wow'.

Ashley's eyes scoured over the modern building standing in the centre of a cosy courtyard as their car pulled up into a gravel car park.

It wasn't what she'd anticipated and for that she was glad, the whole thing was made of pale stone and green tinted glass, it looked amazing and suddenly Ashley felt like she was under dressed.

She'd been expecting some dowdy old structure that had been converted from an old pensioners home into an asylum without the expenses to refurbish, instead she was standing in front of an ace looking building of profession wearing skinnies and a half decent hoodie. She hoped they didn't run on first impressions.

"What do you think?" she murmured stepping out of the car with her Uncle who puffed out his cheeks shielding his eyes from the glare of the sun to look the building over.

"Flashy" he muttered.

"I feel under dressed" Ashley confessed with a frown closing the car door in a strop.

Her Uncles face creased and for a moment his frown was replaced with soft adoration.

"You look lovely as always" he murmured his tone assuring her.

Ashley smiled halfheartedly before gesturing they head on in before she was late as well as looking a mess.
