[A month on wards]
Ashley allowed herself a moment to catch her breath after marching up a steep drive. Here she was once again standing outside Dale-creek hill Asylum.
After attending a taster day a month before, enduring an interview and undertaking a personalized training course created by the Asylum she was finally back for real. It had been a long process but ultimately worth it. The Head Psychologist had been very taken with her in the interview which had filled her with confidence.
She was still unbelievably curious considering that even after everything she had been through for the job, all had not been revealed to her. For example, there were underground floors being used in the Asylum, she hadn't had the chance to meet any of the patients and she was curious about some of the things she had learnt in the training course she was asked to attend.
It was important to know how to deal with a large variety of individuals and their needs but there was a large scale coverage in the training course that gave her the impression some of the patients here were troublesome, maybe even harmful. There were some burly looking men and women on her course too which left her feeling a little anxious. Was she even strong enough to pull off some of the defense maneuvers?
They'd given her a visitor map not that this was a tourist attraction. Judging from the map it was full of areas they had failed to include in the taster day. Her uncle didn't approve of the job at all let alone the feeling information was being purposely withheld but Ashley had been smitten with the job immediately; it was everything she had hoped it'd be and more. She was excited by the prospect of working with the patients here, maybe it was her general curiosity or maybe it had something to do with what had happened to her when she was younger but she didn't like to dwell on that.
Having the map in her pocket she knew there were pale green and yellow color-coded floors below the ones she had been shown around, quite a few floors in that matter and they weren't really labelled in detail other than staff only or private; she was eager to discover what purpose they had.
The building was exactly how she'd left it in the spring, modern and impressive with its glass windows and pale stone. The crescent shaped flower beds in the car park were in full bloom, the sun was busy burning every part of her body that was visible and she herself felt bright and in bloom ready to start her new, exciting occupation.
Pushing her way through the heavy swing door into the reception area Ashley was once again over whelmed by the clinical presence it obtained. There was a tidy waiting room to the left with soft green seats and a nifty pine table with magazines arranged to look incidentally scattered. A vendor machine stood to the right and the receptionist's office lay dead in front with a lovely blond... Oh?
Ashley approached the receptionist's desk hesitantly watching a messy bundle of hair bob up and down behind the desk. She jumped back startled when a large, brown haired woman stood up fully her cheeks red and posture vexed.
"Can I help you?" She muttered breathlessly taking a seat heavily on a chair in front of a computer.
"Err" Ashley struggled for words as she became lost in the woman's appearance.
The fact she was built like a brickhouse and sweating heavily wasn't at all an issue with Ashley, what was an issue was the way her intensely made up eyes suddenly raked over Ashley's body with an aura of judgement. Ashley's eyebrows furrowed in defense. Considering the woman's heavy makeup was practically melting in the heat it was rich that she was the one doing the judging.
"I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction, I've just recently been employed and this is my first day."
The receptionist gave Ashley an undermining look.
