Everything was silent, much to silent for Shuichi as he read what he thought was a mystery novel giving to him by Kokichi. Currently, Shuichi was learning the hard why not to trust Kokichi's choice in books, the story he was given was a rather well-written horror story specializing in physiological horror. Shuichi couldn't stop reading though, the story having trapped him in its spell.

It took hours for Shuichi to finally close the book with a shutter, whoever wrote the book was definitely talented. Maybe they were an Ultimate as well? Shaking his head, Shuichi got up from his chair and made his way to his bedroom to get ready for bed. When he stepped into his bedroom he jolted in surprise when he saw something on his bed move, his terror them turned to embarrassment when he heard a soft meow come from the sheets and his cat, Sherlock, poke its head up to gaze at him. Shuichi sighed in relief before grabbing his favorite pair of pajamas and walked into the bathroom to change, once done he stepped out and without hesitation, he climbed into bed.

He was ready for sleep to take him away to dreamland which it did, only it took him to a world he didn't want to be in. He couldn't remember the nightmare when he woke with a strangled gasp, sitting up in bed all Shuichi could hear was his heavy panting. When frightened golden eyes scanned the room, he saw the shadows silently warp before his eyes. In a flash, Shuichi reached over to his nightstand and flicked the light on, only to see his room was exactly the same as before he went to bed.

Knowing that if he were to fall asleep again he would be dragged back into that nightmare and so, he grabbed his phone that charged on his nightstand and dialed in a number. It rang once, twice...

"Hello?" Came the groggy voice of Kaito and Shuichi sighed in relief.

"Kaito? I'm sorry to call you so late in the night. I-I had a nightmare and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind if I came over?" Shuichi asked while running a hand through his hair.

"Not at all, man! Wait stay there, I'm coming over!"

"Kaito no you don-"

Shuichi sighed when Kaito hung up, not giving him the chance to finish his sentence. Might as well stay up till Kaito got here. Shuichi's house was as silent as ever and it only worked Shuichi up more as he walked into his living room, dragging his blankets behind him.

It took only ten minutes for Kaito to arrive and in his arms, he carried the Home Planet Projector he got for his most recent birthday, a dark blue blanket covered in light blue stars, and a pure white pillow.

"Kaito you didn't have to come over, I-"

"Nope! Your my sidekick and I rather walk down the street in my PJs in the night you then having too!"

Shuichi couldn't help but smile but tilted his head in confusion when Kaito walked past him and into his room. Curiosity gripped the detective as he followed after Kaito and saw him place his blanket and pillow down on his bed and set the star projector up on his desk across the room. Kaito them turned the light off on Shuichi's nightstand and the room was illuminated by small spots of light on the walls, floors, and ceiling.

In Shuichi's distracted state, he didn't notice Kaito walking up to him before he was swept off his feet and carried to his bed. "K-Kaito!" he squeaked out before feeling his cheeks turn a bright shade of red when Kaito wrapped his and Shuichi's blanket around them and lay back on the bed.

"There! Now there's no way you can get another nightmare!" Kaito chirped with a bright smile and Shuichi couldn't help but giggle softly.

"Thank you Kaito, " he hummed out before letting his eyes flutter closed and leaning his head against Kaito's chest.

"No problem Shu, " Kaito smiled warmly, while the now soothing silence of the housing lull the two to sleep.
