It was cold.... It was dark and I didn't know where I was. The last thing I could remember was laying down on my bed after a long day of school and yet here I was.
I lay in a narrow alleyway in a vast city overshadowed by tall skyscrapers from what I could see. Nobody was around, or at least it seemed that way but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched.
I got up groggily with an aching head and wandered out into a dusty old street, the streetlight flickered to life and shone down on me illuminating a small area around me. The silent night air drifted by, my only companion against the ominous night. The buildings were still too dark to make out, in fact the only thing I could make out was a mailbox down the street. I was tempted to stay in the streetlight as much as I could but that mailbox might be the only way to figure out what was going on.
I approached the silhouette with an anxious anticipation, expecting to be jumped right there and then but instead was greeted by the 'ring ring' of the two bells attached to the side of the mailbox by a faintly glowing red ribbon. I opened the mailbox and pulled out a letter that I couldn't make out in the darkness so I swiftly shifted back to the lamplight and opened it. It read :
Dear Fey
We are happy to finally contact you, after much debating we have decided to- I had to look closely to decipher the next part. -invite you to Super Crash Brothers Ulti- that bit seemed to have been scratched out with.... actual scratch marks like the job of talons rather than a pen. -ask you for your assistance, further details will be provided aboard the Starset express. Please board the train by 9:30 PM on the corner of Sunset Avenue.
~________The sender left out their own name for the letter but this was rather odd. I live on the corner of Sunset Avenue. And there was no denying that the letter was for me, considering that my name was on the letter. Fey Samander. Yeah it was right but what did this all mean?
Just then a bone rattling cry pierced the air nearby, snapping me back to reality. A rabid creature launched itself out of the darkness and tackled me out of the spotlight. It raved and relentlessly scratched at me as I held up my arm to keep it off me.
From what I could tell of the noises it made and the dim light, it was some sort of sabertooth-like creature just much weaker than my expectations, though that didn't mean it wasn't dangerous. It then jumped off me with alarming leg power and disappeared in the shadows, using it's slick silver coat to its advantage as it somehow blended in the shadows. My heart was racing and my head was pounding, I couldn't think straight and for that very reason I barely realised how much damage I'd actually taken, I got up quick, edging towards the light to survey my wounds. I had slashes everywhere along with bite marks that almost made me faint from the size of th-
Another cry pierced the air from my attacker, but this time it was chorused by 5 others from all angles. I shakily drew a breath and tried to cover my wounds with tufts of my tattered clothes that I tore off, what help would that do!? I should have run and called for help!
It was too late, 6 streaks of silver bolted from the darkness and sprung to dizzying heights for the final blow but as they descended, so too did all the stars in the sky. The very heavens above seemed to be falling from the sky as I cowered down in the spotlight waiting for it all to end.
And it did end, with millions of stars crashing down on the city and my assailants. They burnt in the radiant star's lights that lay waste to the ground in massive explosions, lighting up everything within the area for mere moments as countless monsters hiding in the shadows were sent flying and slowly turned to whispers of smoke.
Nowhere was safe, except for my tiny little spotlight, even when it stopped I was still fine. All those colours had made me light headed, or maybe it was my wounds? Either way my sight doubled over and became blurry.
A figure that I hadn't noticed from the darkness slowly approached me with pinkish-orange hair, the rest I couldn't make out as my vision became hazy and my legs gave out. The figure caught me as I slowly lost consciousness from my wounds."Kept you waiting now didn't I? Oh dear, this is bad...guess we'll have to patch you up now won't we? After all, the sun hasn't set on your horizon just yet..."
I couldn't respond, my body wouldn't move in any way as my eyelids shut and the figure carried me off into the darkness, singing a jolly tune along the way.
