Steve was sound asleep when it happened. Suddenly the fire alarm went off startling the poor Captain awake.
"JARVIS, what's going on?" he yelled as he got out of bed, not even caring that he was only wearing a pair of tight black briefs, and dashed out of his room.
"It appears that Sir has attempted to make breakfast this morning" the AI answered.
"Damn it Tony" Steve muttered under his breath. "JARVIS, please turn the alarm off and use the fire extinguisher if necessary" he ordered the AI as he made his way to the kitchen.
The first thing Steve noticed when he walked into the kitchen were the tears silently streaming down Tony's cheeks. The second thing he noticed was Tony running cold water over his left hand. Immediately Steve ran to his side, a look of concern replacing his initial irritation.
"Tony! Oh my gosh! What happened?" Steve asked as he came up behind the sobbing brunette to inspect the damage done to his hand.
"It was an accident Stevie, I swear!" Tony sobbed.
"I know it was sweetheart. Now tell me exactly what happened please" Steve cooed softly.
"I-I just wanted t-to make some pancakes b-but the mix was on the t-top shelf a-and I couldn't reach it so I-I tried to hoist myself up. I f-forgot I had turned the stove on t-to preheat the p-pan and I-I put my hand on it and and it hurt. When I jumped I accidently d-dropped the mix b-box on it a-and it caught f-fire. I-I'm sorry." Tony stuttered out as he continued to whimper and sob quietly.
"Oh pie" Steve sighed, "Come on, I'll rub some antiseptic on your hand so it doesn't blister and then I'll bandage it up so it hurts less, ok?" he said softly as he led Tony back into his room.
Once inside his room, Steve made his way to the bathroom for his first aid kit while Tony made his way to the bed and sat down. Soon Steve walked back out and sat next to his clumsy boyfriend and carefully took his injured hand in his to apply the ointment. He then took out some gauze and wrapped it gently but securely around his hand.
"There we go doll, all done. Just give it some time to heal. No lab work or being Ironman for at least a couple of days ok?" Steve said in his Captain America voice to make sure Tony listened to him.
Tony weakly nodded his head and sniffled a bit in response.
"Is there anything I can do to help with the pain and stop you from crying? Maybe we could go out for breakfast if you still want pancakes." Steve asked.
"Well yeah that sounds good but" Tony said with a small smirk making its way to his lips, "you could also kiss it better, Stevie" he said with the most innocent look he could muster.
Steve let out a hearty chuckle and pulled Tony closer to himself.
"There's my cheeky little clumsy monkey" he whispered with a smug look on his face as he pulled the brunette in for a sweet short kiss.
As soon as the kiss ended, Tony puffed and pouted indignantly.
"Don't you ever call me a clumsy monkey in your life again, or I swear you'll have to sleep in Thor's room for a month." Tony threatened.
Steve let a look of mock horror appear on his face for exactly 3 seconds before he burst out laughing.
"Oh come on Tony its a term of endearment, I'll call you what I want when I want. Now lets go I'm hungry too." Steve stood up and made his way towards the door before a cough stopped him at the door.
"What now Tony, do I have to carry you out too?" Steve asked as he quirked and eyebrow at the brunette still sitting on his bed with a devious smirk on his face.
"Well, Capsicle, while I do enjoy flaunting your sexiness to the universe," Tony purred and then paused for dramatic affect, "I don't think I'd enjoy anyone else drooling over you while you walk around New York City practically naked." he finished wiggling his eyebrows.
Steve looked down at himself and blushed once he noticed he was only in his briefs and quickly made his way to his closet while Tony giggled from his door way.
"Come on blondie I'll wait for you by the elevator hurry up!" Tony yelled as he walked out of Steve's room.
Steve quickly pulled on some cloths and muttered a quiet "I hate you some times" under his breath.
"Love you too silly monkey!" came Tony's yelled reply from the living room.
Steve groaned and rolled his eyes, what had he gotten himself into with that pet name? "Who cares" Steve thought as he made his way to Tony.
"I love you, you know that right?" Steve said as soon as he reached Tony.
"Of course I do Cap, I happen to know that I am very loveable." came Tony's witty remark.
"Just kiss me you idiot." Steve chuckled.
Tony leaned up on his tiptoes and just before their lips met he whispered a sweet "I love you too monkey" at Steve. They both giggled and made their way to breakfast, every now and then poking fun at each other and sharing kisses.
Maybe the day started of on the wrong foot but they would be alright, as long as they had each other to take care of one another.
