It Bit Me

"Who are you then?"

"I am part of that power which eternally wills evil and eternally works good"
- Faust: First Part,
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Gabrielle

I stretched and yawned as I awakened from a much needed nap. I lie still wondering if it had all been a horrible nightmare since I feel no pain at all. In fact, I feel fantastic. Better than I ever have. Everything around me is unfamiliar, including this bed which feels amazing. The royal purple, satin sheets cascade over me like liquid. I turned on my side, slowly moving my bare feet between the sheets to savor the comfort. The feeling is somewhat pleasurable, but my delight is overshadowed by caution. I have no idea where I am. Wherever I am it has to be huge. This room alone is the size of a one bedroom apartment. It's a bedroom suited for royalty. The bed, curtains, and rugs are different shades of purple trimmed in gold. There's also a huge fire place that has to stand at least 6ft tall. Above it is a painting of a very pretty woman. It looks like one of those  renaissance style paintings, but I can hardly tell by looking through the shimmering gold curtains of the canopy bed I'm in.

I got out of bed to get a closer look. The closer I got, the more the lady looked familiar to me. Memories of Tito beating me, Her lifting Tito up by his throat, and that fine ass butler, all flashed through my mind.. "it wasn't a dream" I mumbled as I stared at the painting.

She's lounging across a log in the middle of a paradise, dressed in a red tunic with a long split up the side revealing her brown curvaceous body. She's holding an albino snake up in her right hand with its body coiling up her arm. The portrait is breathtaking. The artist's use of light and shadow makes the picture look alive. As I scale over every detail of the portrait I notice the artist's signature in the bottom corner. I go up a little closer and stand on the tips of my toes so that I can read what it says.

-Leonardo Da Vinci 1485

"No way" I said aloud.. That's impossible.  This is either a portrait of an ancestor that she luckily came across or she paid someone to knock off Da Vinci..

"There is no way in hell she's that old. Unless she's a vampire or something" I said to myself and chuckled, when suddenly a vision of her hoisting Tito in the air and sniffing him crossed my mind.. "She's definitely strong like a vampire" I thought out loud.. My stomach nervously flutters as the idea of her being one isn't too far fetched after all..

"What the hell is going on?" I mumbled aloud and soon began to panic.. "Is this why I've healed so quickly? Did she bite me?!" I thought to myself as I felt my neck for bite marks..

I quickly ran into the bathroom, feeling along the walls for the light switch. I'm taken aback by how spacious and beautiful it is, but immediately shook off the shock and awe as I go to the wall sized mirror to examine myself. There's not a scratch on me. I lifted up the top of the black silk pajamas I am wearing to see if the bruises were still there... Nothing.

How did I heal so quickly? And who bathed and dressed me? I know I had to have been bathed because I smell different. Not like the soap I have at home. This fragrance smells like a mixture of sage and lavender. My hair has been washed too..

"The festivities will not be privy to you.. Follow me to the apothecary to get your wounds healed" I remembered the woman in red saying to me..

Right. I am to stay in my room.

I go back into the bedroom and began looking around. There's other portraits on the walls of mermaids, and light beings with wings battling dark ones. I assume they are angels fighting demons. I walked over to the vanity made of a purplish grey marble also trimmed in gold. The chair is also marble with a plush lavender seat cushion. The vanity is stocked with designer perfumes and makeup with different shades of lipstick and eyeshadow. I continue on with my tour until I am back into the bathroom. The huge black jacuzzi tub could fit up to at least four people and is conjoined by a glassed in double shower. I opened the mirrored sliding door next to the shower and once again I am awestruck.
