~Steph's POV~
It's my 18th birthday today, the 10th August, and because I want to compete in the 2016 Olympics, my mum surprised me with tickets to the diving today. She thinks I'm obsessed with Tom Daley too. Great. Not that I'm not grateful, I can't wait to go, I just wish he wasn't diving today.
We got into the car and drove to London, but before we got anywhere near the Olympic park, we were stuck in traffic. It took us an hour to get from the edge of Stratford to the stadium. We finally got there, parked and walked to the aquatic centre. It took us another hour to get through security but eventually we were there. We sat down, and it was half an hour until the event started. We had amazing seats and the atmosphere was electric.
Finally, it started and the first diver was a Canadian. He was amazing, and scored really highly. We were right next to the diving boards and could see everything really close up and it was stunning. The next diver was Peter Waterfield for GB, and as soon as he stepped onto the platform, the crowd went wild. He did a really good dive, and moved into first place above the Canadian. Next up was who other than Tom Daley. He was just as cocky in real life as I always thought he was. He walked down the platform like he owned it, wave to the crowd, who responded immensely. If you thought the cheer for Peter was loud, it was nothing compared to this. He looked around the crowd and his eyes locked with mine for what seemed like years but was probably only a couple of seconds.
My god, he has perfect eyes.
After that, it was all a blur. Both Tom and Pete qualified and we went back to the hotel room to get ready to go out for a meal at my favourite restaurant, Frankie & Benny's.
~Tom's POV~
As i walked up the steps to the platform, I got butterflies in my stomach. It wasn't the first time this had happened before a dive, in fact it happened nearly every time. But this time was different. This time it felt like something was going to happen. Something big, and it scared me. My legs turned to jelly and as I walked down the platform, i scanned the crowd for my family. I couldn't find them but i knew they were there somewhere. My eyes moved to the seats right next to the diving boards, the closest ones there were. My heart skipped and i felt almost sick. The most beautiful girl in the world was sat there, and i couldn't help but stare. Even though every single person in the crowd was cheering my name, she wasn't. She was sat glaring at me, but she still looked gorgeous. I finally tore my eyes away from her and tried to concentrate on the dive. It all went so fast after that, but i ended up qualifying. I was so happy, and as soon as I got back to my room in the village, I got a call from my mum saying that we were going out for a meal at Frankie & Benny's, my favourite restaurant, with my whole family to celebrate both me getting through and my Grandad's birthday.
