Chapter 16: Me and Lauren adopted little Maia

Shay's POV

"Why I must always lose! I just wanna win for a once! These cards are not fun at all!" I angrily threw cards on table.

"Shay, you must learn how to also lose! Life is not just about winning and cards are based just on luck!" My dad tried to calm me down.

"You are totally like Lauren! She also just wants to win!" Mom started laughing.

"Okay, I think I wanna go on walk to breathe fresh air and clear my head!" I said to them and closed the door behind me.

On the walk...

I learned this from Lauren. I was always that type of person who rather sat at home and didn't go anywhere. But my wife opened my eyes and showed me what is healthy. She goes on a walk every morning or sometimes evening.

When I was running through the park, I heard a baby cry. I tried to localize that sound and soon, I found a stroller with a little baby in it. I came closer to that stroller and I noticed there was a paper on it.

"Please someone take care of Maia, her parents left her alone!" I read the written note and then looked at little human. I immediately fell in love with Maia. She had a big smile and brown eyes like Lauren. She looked like Lauren a lot. She was so adorable and innocent. I just don't get that type of people who made a children together and then neglect the poor one. I decided to take care of Maia and adopt her.

"Hey, Maia, I am Shailene and I will take care of you. You have two moms now. I am gonna show you to Lauren, let's leave this place!" 

At Cimorellis house...

Lauren's POV

"Hey Sugar, why is a baby bed in your room?" Dani laughed when she saw me preparing for role of a mother.

"I have a feeling that I will have a child soon. If I can't have my own one, I wanna adopt a child and raise it with Shay. I must be prepared for it!" I explained to my youngest sister.

"Lauren, look through the window! Why is Shay waiting outside with a stroller?" Dani shooked.

"Let me see it!" I pushed Dani out of the window.

"Lauren why is nobody at home? Are you alone? Please, open the door!" Shay screamed at me.

"I am not alone, Dani is with me here. And wait a second!" I said to my wife and rushed to open the door.

"Shay, who is this? Explain!" I asked with confusion.

"Someone stupid left this little baby alone in the park. I wanna adopt Maia and take care of her! Lauren, Maia is our child from now!"

"How can be some people so cruel? Of course I wanna take care of her! Can I hold Maia?" Shay nodded and gave Maia to my arms.

"Hey little one. You are so beautiful and loved. Mommy will take care of you!" I petted Maia and kissed her forehead.

"Aw Lauren, Shay! Maia is so cute! I am always ready to help you with taking care of her!" Dani squealed.

"Thank you for finding her and bringing her here. In my room, she will be safe. I always wanted to be a mother and I can't believe we just became parents, Shay!" I laid Maia into my baby bed and came closer to my wife.

"At first, I fell in love with you then married you and now, we are raising our child! I love you and Maia so much, you have no idea! Nothing is more important for me than you two!" I hugged my wife tightly.

After three years...

25th of April 2021

It's Maia's 3rd birthday today! She is growing up so fast, it's crazy.

"Mommy, why I can't blow the candles on my cake?" Maia started crying.

"Aw my little Maia, don't cry! You must try it till you don't blow them all! Strong people never give up!" She obeyed me and she solved the problem with candles.

"Where is my daddy? Why I just have two mommas?" Maia hugged me and I sat her on my lap.

"Maia, you don't have a daddy. Me and Lauren are a couple and two women can't have a child together. We are just raising you, you were born to unknown man and woman but we love you like you were our own." Shay explained.

"I love you too moms, how did you met with me?" Maia became curious.

"Well, I found you abandoned in the park." Shay caressed Maia's beautiful long hair.

"Thank you for saving my life, Shay!" She went to hug my wife. Then Lynne, my mom called on me.

"Lauren, do you remember when you were three I started teaching music for you? Don't you wanna show something to Maia and teach her something? Maybe she has a music talent like you." My mom smiled at me.

"Maia, I was wondering if you wanna know something new about me? Do you wanna know who I really am? I am a musician and singer and my sisters Christina, Katherine, Lisa, Amy and Dani are in the band with me. I can play on tambourine, piano, violin and little bit on drums and guitar. And my voice type is a soprano. Do you wanna see how I looked when I was younger?" Maia nodded and I showed her me and my sisters cover of Human by Christina Perri.

"Mommy!" Maia immediately pointed at me when the video started playing.

"Yes, you are so smart, Maia. That time I was like 15 and didn't even know about your other mom, Shay. I fell in love with her when I was 20. But you know, when you will fall in love, rather find some man. That's what love should look like, between man and woman. Now, look here, do you see this? Do you know now what is all of this? I have my own recording studio in my room. I have here a computer, speakers, producing software, headphones, microphone, keyboard and also guitar. Here I am creating all of my own songs. Do you wanna learn how to play on the piano?" 

My mom wasn't wrong. Maia learned how to play on the piano so fast. She has a music talent like me and my sisters. Maybe one day, she will replace Christina, who knows. At the moment, me and Shay are laying on my bed and looking into each other eyes. I never stopped loving her.

"I wish I could look into your beautiful eyes every second of my life." I spoke to Shay.

"I wish I could be with you every second of my life." She answered me.

"Thank you for moving to Nashville and bumping into me." I continued.

"Thank you for falling in love with me and asking me out. There are so many things I could thank you for. I never thought I could end up with you. God bless you and Maia." Shay smiled at me.

"I will love and take care of you and Maia till the day I die!" I kissed Shay's cheek and then looked at Maia, playing with my keyboard. These two women are everything I need in my life. I am the luckiest person on the Earth now.
