Shen Wei is such an ethereal beauty. Ugh,my heart hurts.

Long chapter ahead. Get those popcorns.

this will be a continuation from the previous chapter.

Yunlan narrowed his eyes. "Yes, Mother," he said, refusing to look embarrassed. It was none of that ass's concern what he chose to wear. There was nothing wrong with his clothes, anyway. He was nineteen, not ninety, and he didn't have a stick up his ass.

(lol. We shall see who ends up with a stick up his ass Yunlan. hehe )

"We have never met. His Highness seems to be a very busy person. He's always otherwise engaged when I visit his protege."

Queen mother Ru Lan cleared her throat to try and dissipate the tension surrounding them. "Yunlan......."

Yunlan  could perfectly hear the warning in his mother's voice. He could feel his mothers' disapproval through their familial links to him. He ignored it. He glared at The envoy, who stared back at him impassively, as though Yunlan was an unwanted pet who has barked for the first time.

Goddamit. Yunlan's hands practically itched to remove that annoying mask from his face or to sock that face with a upper cut. UgH. Anything to remove that I-KNOW-IT-ALL expression from that face.

"You will make no such scene , brat ." an unfamiliar voice said in his head.

Yunlan froze, staring at Shen Wei, wide-eyed. He had never spoken to the envoy, but that voice could belong only to him. Only bondmates could communicate in actual sentences through mindlinks. Another perk of being a bonded to a royal Dixing.

Despite his shock, a very large part of Yunlan was relieved. His bond actually worked. He was not defective.

"He has indeed changed," Shen Wei said aloud, his voice a deep monotone that sounded nothing like the scathing voice in Yunlan's head.

Yunlan did a double take and frowned slightly. He wasn't an expert on mind links, but as a rule, people's telepathic voice sounded exactly like their real voice. Weird.

"He definitely isn't a bean anymore ," Shen Wei said in the same flat voice, and Yunlan's mother laughed, as though Shen Wei had said something incredibly witty. Ha fucking ha.

Yunlan was at a loss on how to communicate through their bond—it wasn't like he'd had any practice—so he thought as loudly as he could,

"Very funny. And don't call me a brat, old man."

Shen Wei flicked his gaze to him for a moment before returning it to Yunlan's mother. He engaged her in some small talk that gradually shifted into a more serious discussion about politics.

Yunlan scrunched up his nose. Ugh, politics. Boring.

"Aren't you supposed to be a prince? Perhaps you should try paying attention."

Yunlan  flinched. "Are you eavesdropping on my thoughts?" He scowled  at Shen Wei's profile. One would never guess Shen Wei  was anything but attentive as he listened to Queen Rulan complaining about the election process of Haixing

"Also, I couldn't feel you before. why?"

There was a small pause before Shen Wei replied.

"Your mind is undisciplined and chaotic. Your excited childish gibberish has always been extremely distracting and gives me a migraine. Also your voice is too high pitched, so normally I block you."

Yunlan  took a deep breath and counted to ten, telling himself that murdering the blue blooded royalty of the High Clan would surely start another Great War. Can he kick his arse though ? Surely he can make some excuses.

"Why does no one know what a two-faced asshole you are? I am going through puberty , you old hag. A perfect gentleman, my ass!"

"That's the last time I'm letting you get away with such language, brat."

"Don't you call me brat! And you aren't the boss of me. Haixing follows democracy. I will talk how I want, I will dress how I want, and I will—"

Shen Wei pulled out of his mind.

It was such a strange feeling. Suddenly he was just aware of the absence of something that he hadn't even noticed until then. It was like oxygen. You never know you needed it till it gets taken away. Glaring at the asshole's nape, Yunlan focused hard and tried to follow the mental footprints that Shen Wei had left in his mind. It took an incredible effort, but finally, he managed it.

He wished he hadn't

Because now he could feel it: a thick, impenetrable wall, blocking the way and making him physically nauseous and dizzy every time he touched it. It emanated wrong-not wanted-keep away. He felt worthless.

Yunlan staggered back, hurt and rejection welling up in his chest and making it hard to breathe.

Shen Wei turned his head. Something flickered in his eyes before they became unfathomable. He could undoubtedly see that Yunlan was crushed by his rejection.

Yunlan  fought the tears of anger and utter humiliation threatening to spill from his eyes. He won't give that satisfaction to this bastard.

I hate you, he thought with contempt, holding Shen Wei's gaze, something dark and ugly taking root in his heart.

I hate you, I hate you, I hate you.

I will always hate you.
