MY SISTER'S LOVER
CHAPTER 17
Grace and Shirleen were fine when I arrived home. I cuddled my gal for some minutes and went to the bedroom. I called a real estate agent and told them all that I wanted.
I took my supper and retired to my bed. Judy and his accomplices didn't see this coming. I was gonna hit them where it hurts most. How dare they plan all these behind my back and expect me to take it just sitting down? Hell no!
I kept on reminiscing on the sweet moments we had with Sam. So all these were just but pretence. No wonder he barely touched me after giving birth.
I had planned to put him behind me so that I may plan well. I wasn't gonna sit down and wait for them to come and pick my kid. I was a mother and my baby meant the world to me.
I did my things, careful not to involve anybody else for fear of being betrayed.
Who could be trusted anyway? If my only sister had stabbed me at the back? Judy, why did I have to end up with you as my sister? The wrath of my late parents was surely gonna visit you in a special way. This world is wicked.
That night I had nightmares of some unseen things taking my gal away. I would wake up and switch on the lights to conform that she was still with me.
The following morning, I woke up earlier, took breakfast and gave the usual instructions to my House help.
I called a cab and directed the driver to some offices in CBD.
The agents were really helpful and within an hour, I had settled for a fully furnished two bedroom apartment in the outskirts of Nairobi town.
I accompanied them to the site to see the said apartment.
I liked it after seeing it and made the necessary transactions. I just thanked my God who had given me some wisdom to save. All those years with Sam, I had at least made some money from the boutique and from the sale of the car too.
I had changed my number the previous day but still had the other line on. I was gonna throw it away immediately I accomplished my mission.
Back home, I requested my house help to change her number because Judy had it and she used to call her whenever she couldn't reach me. She accepted and she visited a dealer and changed her line immediately.
I trusted her therefore o told her the plans to shift, avoiding to give details. She understood perfectly because she had seen the sleepless nights I spend thinking about Sam's absence.
She was a mature lady and she assured me of her support and loyalty.
"There is something I would like to tell you ma'am." She told me
"Say it Grace, I am all ears!"
I wondered what she wanted to tell me.
"Madam Judy once approached me and told me if I help them take care of Shirleen when they take her they will increase my salary!"
"And you accepted, just like that?"
"No, I told her I will think about it but I was never going to betray you. You are a good person and you have been always good to me. I hate how Madam Judy orders me around whenever she is around."
"Can I trust you Grace? Make sure you don't betray me because God's wrath will be upon you!"
"I will never do such a thing Ma'am. You are the best employer I have ever seen. May God bless you."
I could see some sincerity in her eyes. He face showed how much grateful she was to have me as her boss.
"If its about salary, I will increase it next month."
She was so happy to hear that.
I had planned to shift the following day and leave everything as it is in the house. I was only gonna carry my stuff, baby's stuff and Grace's stuff.
We did the packing that evening and we were set to go the following morning.
Early that day, the devil came knocking.
"Hey Aggy, I hope you still remember that we have a date on Shirleen birthday. Don't you try anything stupid."
A text from Judy.
I didn't reply.
I ignored and just mumbled within myself.
"Do your worst. I am ahead of you....siz"
The cab guy was already at the gate. We loaded our stuff in the boot, locked the house and left the key with the gateman
I knew he was gonna call Sam and tell him that we had left.
"Madam kwani mmenda ushagu?"
"Yes Wephukhulu, we will come next week. Please keep the keys safely for me."
I gave him 1k and told him to be a good boy.
I directed the cab guy as he drove.
Finally, I had made a step ahead of them.
They never saw this coming.
We arrived at our destination and when we finally settled, I texted Judy.
"Come to the house, we need to talk."
With that, u switched of the phone, crashed it on the call and crashed the line too.
I took out my new phone and put in the new sim card.
Judy, you started this game, let's see how it ends.
