MY SISTER'S LOVER

CHAPTER 25
I couldn't help but marvel at the coincidence. So Sam has been looking for me all this while? God! I hope I won't be doing a mistake by allowing him back into our lives. I went to the boutique and I couldn't hide my happiness.
Grace asked me what all the happiness was all about.
"Have you won a lottery ma'am?"
"Grace, how many times will I tell you to stop calling me ma'am and learn to address me as Agnes? You make me feel 'old'....Anyway, I haven't won any lottery, but guess what?"
"Am not good at guessing ma'am...I mean Agnes. Just tell me please."
"Okay, if you must know, I am just from westlands to see Sam, and guess what? He has been looking for me as well. He had already traced my whereabouts he was waiting for the right time to make a move!"

"Whaaaat? What about Judy, aren't they married?"
"That one is a forgotten case. The parted ways immediately I left and they haven't met for the last there years.I have heard she drinks from morning to night. But right now she doesn't matter to me!"
"Waoh! Am so happy for you Agnes, God has already answered your prayers. I knew deep down my heart Sam was a nice person, your sister must have been the one putting those silly ideas in his mind."
"She is a forgotten case. I no longer care about her at all."
We talked about everything till the closing hours. We closed the boutique and went home together.
At home, I met my ever smiling Shirleen.
"Mum you are late today, did you go to see dad?"
This girl was unpredictable.
Her questions always caught me unawares but this time round I was ready to answer her questions.
"Yes darling, I went to see him!"
"Can I speak to him mum?"
"Yes, hun, lemmie call him"
I dialled his number which was ever in my finger tips and he picked it up at the second ring. The phone was on loud speaker.
"What a surprise Agnes, you called me! Am so happy. Tell me dear."
"Daddy, is that you.....?"
"Oh my princess, its me daddy. How are you?"
"Daddy, I need chocolate, mummy says its bad for my teeth. She always scolds me whenever I ask her for chocolate...."
Shirleen was something else, I have never seen such a bright kid. At her age, I didn't even know the difference between chocolate and sweet! That's how backward I was at four.
Daddy and daughter spoke for a long time until I confiscated the phone from her. She frowned but she had a lot of homework to do. We spoke with Sam and I told him to come and spend some time with her that Saturday.
He was glad to hear that. We said our goodbyes and I went on the business of helping my daughter with her homework.
That weekend, Sam had no problem locating my place.
He called me around ten and told me he was already at the basement parking of the apartment.
I went down stairs to get him to the house.
Surprise on me!
Sam had shopping bags full of stuff and he had come with someone to help him take them up the stairs since we lived in the third flood. We carried the stuff up into the house and I could see some nosey neighbours craning their necks to get a glimpse of whoever had arrived.
I didn't care about them but I am sure they were surprised because they have never seen a man in my house.
Shirleen was sitting on the couch watching her favourite jimjam cartoon channel. When she saw her dad, she jumped onto his waiting arms. Daddy and daughter had already started bonding.
"Daddy, I saw you in our school, why didn't you hug me that day?"
Sam was tongue tied, he couldn't come up with an excuse.
He brushed off the topic by asking her to bring her mathematics book to help with homework.
After serving Sam some snacks, house help and I were busy putting the stuff in their appropriate places. He had bought shopping to last us over a month.
"Daddy, where is my chocolate, you promised to bring one for me"
"Your mummy will be mad at me if I buy you chocolate"
I winked at him and joked that he had no money to buy chocolate that's why he didn't come with it.
Shock on me, he pulled a whole bar of cadbury milky bar and handed it over to Shirleen.
"A bar once in a while ain't harmful!"
Shirleen was happy. She couldn't stop waving the bar of chocolate at me, so that I may feel some jealous.
Sam dipped his hand on his other inner pocket and brought out another exact bar. He signaled me, telling me it was mine.
I was happy that he still remembered my taste of chocolates and drinks. He had bought a whole dozen of delmonte mango juice.
Sam and Shirleen were catching up. They seemed happy together.
Sam suggested that we go somewhere within Karen so that we way have lunch and for Shirleen to breathe some fresh air from home. I didn't see any reason to refuse. It's long since someone took me out.
We prepared ourselves and got into his car.
He took us to a place where Shirleen could play.
To say the truth, we had fun. That day brought alot of memories in my mind.
San hadn't changed at all. He was the same Sam who used to pull chairs for me and open doors for me.
We had fun till evening. We had dinner at the same place and he took us home.
"Daddy, will you be staying with us? I want you to live with us please daddy"
Her question surprised both of us.
Sam looked at me then looked at her.
"Darling, we will talk with mummy and we will know what to do."
I could feel some tremor in his voice. He almost chocked on most of the words.
"It's okay daddy. Hope you will be coming everyday to take me to school!"
"I will try to do that my princess. Be a good girl and don't give mummy a hard time, okay?"
"Yes daddy!"
They hi fived as a sign of agreement.
I couldn't help the fact that I was happy once again.
He promised to come and pick me up that Friday so that we may attend the AGM together....
