MY SISTERS LOVER
CHAPTER 26
Shirleen couldn't stop narrating to Grace and the house help how her dad was the best. She was happier than before and I was also happy for her. She was my daughter and I wished her everything good in her life. Every night Sam would call to talk to her. Every call left her happier than before.
Sam picked me up from the house that Friday so that we may attend the AGM together.
Shirleen couldn't stop introducing us to her classmates.
She had performed so well and she emerged the best in her class.
The celebrations were over and everybody left to their homes.
Sam dropped us home and he left to his house. Shirleen couldn't stop pestering him to stay with us that night. But he promised to come back the following day to take us out.
Sam showed up earlier than expected. We were ready therefore we just joined him in the car and he drove towards town center.
"Where are you taking us Sam?"
"It's a surprise my ladies."
So I just relaxed for him to take us wherever he wished. We parked outside a big hotel.
"Here we are ladies!"
"Waoh daddy, this hotel is big! I have never been to such a huge hotel!"
We got in and the waiter led us to the VIP area.
A place was preserved for the three of us. I couldn't help but marvel at the taste Sam had. He never stopped caring. He was the same Sam I met several years ago. Next to us was a play area for kids with trained helpers.
We had some snacks first because it was still early and lunch time was still far. After the snacks, Shirleen requested to go and continue playing.
Sam and I were left sipping on our juices.
"Agnes, I would like to hear from you, for how long are we going to continue being apart? I already apologised for my behaviour and you know very well that it wasn't my fault. Let's not make Shirleen to suffer because of our misunderstandings. You can see how happy she is to have me around. I guess its high time we for back together as husband and wife."
His statement startled me. Did he think it was that easy to get back to him after all that time? Though I had to consider Shirleen, but I had to make sure that Judy wasn't out there planning revenge on us.
"Not so fast Sam, we weren't married in the first place remember? How can we live together while you haven't divorced Judy, whom you were married to?"
"That's what we made you believe Agnes, we are legally married. Judy's name appears nowhere in the marriage cert, though she took it from me and tried to forge a marriage cert between us, but I went back to the attorney general's office and got the extra copy from there."
He got his had into his jacket's pocket a and produced a paper which I assumed it was the said cert and handed it over to me.
"No need to see that Sam, I trust you."
I brushed him of while ignoring the piece of paper.
We chatted happily for a long time..
He promised to take care of us and he said he won't let anybody, not even Judy to hurt us. But I wasn't yet convinced to get back to him. Some decisions needed a lot of thinking before someone mede them.
"After lunch, I would like to take you somewhere."
Sam with surprises!
"Where could that be?"
"It's for me to know, and for you to find out!"
His sense of humour was evident.
After lunch, he got into the car and he drove towards lavington. I am wondered why he chose to drove towards that area but I just kept quiet and waited to be taken anywhere he wanted.
He hooted at a certain gate in the leafy suburbs and a gateman opened the gate for us.
"Here we are girls."
He said while giggling.
I couldn't help my shock. A brand new car was parked at the parking.
We were infront of a big house.
"Who have we come to see here Sam?"
I asked him, rather uncomfortable.
"Chill dear, let go inside and find out!"
Shirleen was happy to be in such an environment. All we could hear were barking of dogs and chirping of birds.
He took out a key and unlocked the door.
As we made our way inside, he held a set of keys up for me.
"This is all your Aggy, the car at the parking is yours. I haven't seen you with the car I bought you so I decided to gift you with a barns new one. I am sure you much have sold it for a better reason. As form this house, it's all yours, thanks a lot for taking care of my daughter in my absence!"
I couldn't help but wonder how he had to pull this out. I mean, the house was a mansion, a car, all for me?
I just slumped on the couch and cried my heart out. Shirleen held her dad's arm and told him to show us around.
"Get up Agnes, let me show you around."
He showed us every nook and corner of the house. It had some upstairs rooms and he told me that was my bedroom. The house was fully furnished. It had everything. The kitchen was huge. One would have fitted in a bed and slept there comfortably.
He showed me the papers, all bearing Shirleen's name and the car log book on my name.
"These are all for you. All you need is to take your time and whenever you decide to move in, you can tell me. As for Shirleen, I have found a nice school her where she can join next year for her pre school studies."
As for the car, you are leaving with it."
To say I was happy will be an understatement. I was flabbergasted. I really thanked him for being so considerate. I even regretted leaving him for three years.
"I can't go with the car Sam, I don't have my driving licence with me, it expired a long time ago and I didn't renew it."
"Then, lemmie call someone to drop you off!"
He dialled a number and after thirty minutes, a guy was there, ready to drive us home.
He bade us goodbye as we drove towards Karen.
"Mummy, this care is nice. I can't wait to show off to my friends when you drive us to church tomorrow!"
Shirleen was beyond herself with joy
"Mum, I love that house. It's big! I can't wait for us to move in so that I may run all over the compound"
I was convinced that Sam had good intentions towards us, he wanted to make up for the lost time and he was really doing his best. I just appreciated his efforts.
I had to come up with a strategy sooner just yo make Shirleen happier.
The driver dropped us home and he called a cab to take him back to his place.
"Mum, will you teach me how to drive?"
"Yes dear, when you grow up, I will teach you dear"
She was happy to hear that.
We got in the house and I went straight to my bedroom. I had a lot of thinking to do......
