After returning home to be healed, thanks to her new friends, Scarlet and the others decided to train to prepare themselves for their fighting against Heldalf and The fallen Shepard, Sorey. Knowing that heldalf and sorey were holding Laphicet captive, it made Scarlet strive to get stronger to get him back no matter the cost. they trained for 3 weeks and after training for a bit, issei would always go to his other self's grave and stare at it. Scarlet and rias saw noticed it while everyone else suspected nothing.
Meanwhile at the burial ground...
"I can't believe i'm dead in this world. How did i die anyway?" Issei said in shock before asking how he died
"Issei?" Rias wondered
Issei looks over his shoulder and sees rias
"Oh, hey." Issei greeted
"You okay? I've noticed that you've been coming here a lot." Rias asked concerned
"I guess. I've been wondered how i died. It makes me kind of sad to know that i die in this world." Issei answered depressed
"maybe this'll help." Rias said while pulling out something
Rias pulls out the Iris gem
"I swiped it when Scarlet wasn't looking. I know it's not in my nature but since you've been coming here a lot, i figured it should help. because it showed all of us why Scarlet hates sirzech so much, maybe it can show you how you died in this world." Rias explained
"Well, it's worth a shot." Issei said
Rias hands the iris gem to issei and glows brightly showing them the past. When it did past Issei tries to strike Zeoticus with his boosted gear but zeoticus dodges it with incredible speed. Wondering where Zeoticus went, he reappeared behind issei and cut off his left arm with the boosted gear on it, then he stabbed issei in his stomach. When scarlet saw what her father did, she was horrified
"ISSEI!" Scarlet yelled in horror
Zeoticus removes his blade and sheathes it.
"You're lucky i'm retreating." Zeoticus told rias
Zeoticus leaves the area. After he leaves scarlet checks on issei and raynare comes out to heal his wound but for some reason, he wound wasn't healing.
"Issei, stay with us come on!" scarlet told him
Past Issei remains silent.
"Raynare, how are his wounds?" Scarlet asked
"They're not healing for some reason. I don't get it!" Raynare answered
"Heh... looks like time is up..." past issei laughed
"What? No! Not now! I still need you!" Scarlet told issei
"I'm sorry, everyone..." past issei apologized weakly
"Issei..." scarlet said with worry
"I'm really sorry rias. I guess i was useless in the end huh? Tell me... did fulfill my oath?" Past Issei apologized before asking weakly
Rias was heartbroken but mustered up what courage and strength she had, putting on a smile for issei, a smile of gratefulness.
"You did, and i thank you for your service as my protector." Rias answered happily in a heartbroken tone as tears fell from the sides of her face and onto issei, as embraced him one final time.
