After a while, I broke the kiss and looked at him, trying to even out my breathing. He let go of me, scratching the back of his head awkwardly, "I, uh... I have to go." He said, before going back to the shore.
I sighed heavily. I knew I shouldn't have done anything. Of all things I chose to kiss him. It would've been easier if I had opened my damn mouth and said something, I mean whatever words came out of my wouldn't have been intelligent but at least I could've had a chance to explain. But no, I just had to go and kiss him. I shook my head trying to push away all the thoughts and left the water, going back to where Antonella and Rafaella were.
"Hey, Tori." Antonella greeted me. I just nodded at her before sitting down on my beach towel beside hers.
Rafaella stood up, "I'm gonna go help my parents with the barbecue." She walked over to the barbecue pit where her family was.
"What's wrong?" Antonella looked at me with concern.
I didn't say anything.
"Tori?"
"I kissed him." I said, looking at the sand.
"What?"
"I kissed Neymar, Ella." I looked at her.
"That's great!" She smiled, wrapping her arms around me and pulling me in for a hug.
"No, it's not."
She pulled away, confused, "Why not?"
"He didn't say anything after that. He just said he had to go and he left."
"Ugh, he can be such an idiot sometimes." She said, rolling her eyes.
"What do I do? I'm pretty sure I just ruined our friendship."
"I'm sure you didn't. Look, just talk to him, okay?"
"Wait... You want me to tell him?" I asked.
"You have to, unless you wanna lose what you two have."
I bit my lip, considering whether I should do what Antonella says or wait. Waiting sounded much better, but I knew that it was just an excuse for not telling him the truth. I didn't want to lose him or our friendship, because it was just that special to me.
I sighed, looking at her, "Fine. I'll tell him."
We had an early dinner with Neymar's family, and spent the rest of the night talking and laughing. His family really made me feel comfortable and at home. At about eight, Antonella and I finally settled on going back to the hotel.
"Thank you for having us." I smiled at Nadine.
She pulled me into a motherly hug, "I'm glad you could make it."
I pulled away, and looked at Neymar's dad, "Thank you, once again."
He hugged me, "No problem, kiddo." I pulled away smiling. Antonella was hugging Nadine, thanking her for inviting us and for dinner.
Lastly, I hugged Rafaella. "We've definitely gotta hang out sometime." She said, smiling at me.
"Yeah, totally." I said, smiling.
She handed me a piece of paper with digits on it, "Here's my number." I took the piece of paper from her hand and slipped it into my shorts pocket.
We grabbed our bags and were about to leave the beach when I felt someone grab my wrist. I looked back and saw Neymar, "Do you have a minute?" He asked, still holding onto my wrist.
I nodded and looked at Antonella, "Ella, I'll be with you in a sec."
She turned to look at me and her gaze averted to Neymar. She nodded understandingly and gave me a thumbs-up, "I'll be right here."
