Epilogue

10 years later:
Tara and Griffin's house**

  "Mom! Tell Ashton to get off the computer! She's been on it for an hour!" River said as he came down stairs.

  "What is she doing on the computer? Homework or chatting?"

  "She said it's homework."

  "And what are you wanting to do on the computer?" I asked my seven year old son, who happens to look exactly like his dad.

  "I need to play a game!" He whined.

  "Then play it on the laptop or the iPad."

  "Dad would make her get off the computer."

  "No he wouldn't and you know that."

  "Listen to your mom, son." Griffin said from the doorway. After laying his keys and badge on the table, he comes to give me a kiss.

  "Yes sir, but Ashy has been on the computer for two hours...two whole hours!"

  "Just two whole minutes ago, you said an hour." I reminded him.

  "I was on the computer doing homework for all of forty-one minutes. Don't be dumb." Ashton turned to her dad. "Hi daddy. How was work?"

  "More paperwork than I want to think about."

  Ashton is almost ten years old, and the oldest of our five kids. After Ashton is Jax, who is eight. Then River at seven. The last are my twins, Kennedie and Kaden, at four. I told Griffin that I might make him regret ever knowing how to fuck if he got me pregnant again. So now I'm eight months pregnant...with twin boys. Griffin is very proud of himself. And he should be. He's a great daddy and husband.

  Griffin has fully recovered from having his vasectomy and is back at work. He has taken over the homicide devision at the department.

   We had to build a house with thicker walls. Then when we outgrew the three bedrooms, he added a second story.

  Carl and Lana have three kids Trace, Mason, and Jillian.

  Kaylee graduated at the top of her class. She's now in her junior year in college. She wants to be a child advocate. Vic and Gina adopted her on her twelfth birthday. She proudly wears the name.

  The idiots who killed Asher, were found guilty of premeditated capital murder, and were sentenced to life without parole.

  Demon and psycho are both dead. They were both found in their cells a month after Griff and I married. Nobody knew anything about it, who, what, or why. But we received a birthday card for Asher the same day they were found with their throats cut.

  Nina and Tina, were found with a weapon and drugs and their sentence was extended by fifteen years. Diana was found hanging in her cell last year.

  Gina and Vic, aka gma and gpa. Yep, That's what all the grandkids call them! They are loving their larger family. They are often heard saying, 'the more, the merrier!' Usually when we tell them about another pregnancy. Their house holds a huge play room and the backyard looks like a park, complete with swimming pool and basketball court.

  Me? I love being a wife and mom. I have the family that I was deprived of growing up. I still go to Heaven's grave, which was relocated to lay beside Asher, every week. All the kids know about Heaven and Asher. Every Christmas, when we hang stockings, there's one for Heaven and Asher.

  "Honey love, we will need two more stockings this year. Also we will need to figure out where to put them all. The mantle is getting too small."

  "I'll have Tank come and build a longer one. He should be here Monday. I've already called him."

  "I love you for all of eternity!" I told him.

  "Heart and soul!" He finished with a kiss.

  We welcomed Cash and Dalton into the world on November seventh. Just as the mantle was being replaced.

  "Did you see that Heaven? Your mom is so patient with your brothers and sisters. She's such a wonderful and beautiful person, inside and out! That is why everyone falls in love with her." Asher told the child that he held in his arms. They were sitting on a golden bench. They sat there quite often as they watched over their family on Earth.

  "But River is funny! He's always trying to get away with stuff. He's a lot like you, daddy Asher." Heaven smiled at Asher with her mommy's smile. The same one that he dreamed about every day of his life on Earth.

  Asher chuckled. "That is also his daddy's trait. I think that we get it from our dad, your gpa."

  They watched as their family sat down to eat supper. They heard the prayer where they asked for Asher and Heaven, to keep watching over them.

  "Of course we will mommy!" They saw the beautiful smile that graced Tara's face as she squeezed her childrens hands.
