Chapter 2

After gym we walk home together away from the judging eyes and rude comments that are said behind our backs.  We walk by coffee shops and a few strip malls.

Until we get to my first crushes house and every time we get to his street I start digging through my purse looking for my makeup. My mirror that has this cool brush attachment that always comes handy on the go and every time I dig through my purse Katie thinks I am doing it for James “You know he is gay right” and I give her a look that says no. Really and then add “I know he is gay. You think this all for him. What I can't look good for my girl?” and that always gets her smiling and we end up cuddling while we wait for James to come looking for us at the end of his street

An hour passes by when James finally finds us. “Hey Jamie. How are you?” I ask he just gave me a cold look. As if he heard the conversation we just had. James is not what one might call active. Unless you count your fingers moving then yes James is active. James is 5’10” he looks to be no more than 100 lbs.  Katie is the first onto get up but I’m stuck on the ground looking up at them and say “I know now what a baby feels like.” So James picks me up like a baby and says “Look love” he says to Katie in a British accent “What a fine baby”

“Yes James dearest. What a fine baby in deed.”

I start making baby noises acting all cute. And James and Katie start laughing and I start laughing too.  I start laughing too. “So?” I ask “what do you guys want to do?”

“I don’t know” Jams says. “I would suggest we go back to my place and watch The notebook but the last time we did that you guys didn't even watch the movie. So I guess that is out.”

“How about the mall?” Katie says.

“Sure but I don’t really like crowds though”

Katie then says “It is Thursday it shouldn’t be too crowded”

When we get to the mall it is even more crowded than it would be around Christmas time. This gets me so nervous.

I am immediately transported back to when I was five. My mom had me and Katie (my mom used to babysit Katie while her mom was at work) and we were in this very same mall, why we were there I have no clue, but anyways my mom was pushing Katie in a stroller because her feet hurt and I was holding on to the carriage when I tripped and fell. My mother just keep going as if she didn't realize that the stroller got lighter and I started screaming when a mall security officer found me wailing the very first thing I did was tell him my name and were lived and he asked me if my mommy was around I told him I don't know. And he said into his walkie talkie that they have a code Adam.

I must of blacked out because Katie was standing over me shaking me back to the present “I’m sorry but can we please go back to your place” I say to Katie.

“Nat I’m here and won't let anything happen to you. Okay?”

“Alright,” I say “on one condition.”

“Sure anything you want.”

“What is this ‘condition’” Jamie asks nearly startling me.

“I want to see if an old friend still works here.”
