Chapter 5

It is a very warm and hot spring day and Eva cannot wait for the end of school today. Her Dad and she are going to get her new car from the dealer. Tomorrow is her birthday and the car is just in time. She chose the Ford Fiesta and she wanted it in a pearly white colour, so she had to wait two weeks for it. She is restless the whole day and Torin sees her restlessness in math's class. When the last bell rings she is up and ready to leave in no time. She is the first person out the door and Torin wonders what her hurry is today. He watches her go and walking straight into Seth's arms in the hallway. To Torin's dismay, he grabs her by the waist and hugs her. "Hullo Lassie, hou ar ye? It's been dunky's since I last saw ye. I misst ye." She laughs and forgets for a moment of all the kids gawking at them and listening as she answers him in real Scots for a change. Around here everybody speaks a normal Sassenach English with once in a while a Scots word thrown in. "Hullo Seth, yeah it's been dunky since ye last saw me. I'm daein fine, whit aboot yersel, ar ye back in Scotland fir a wee bit?" He gives a throaty sexy laugh and the girls fan themselves. He is very handsome and they cannot believe fat Evanora knows the hunky model. "I'm fine Lass. Aye, back fir a wee bit Evie, a wee bit. I hav personal business tae dae. I see ye efter." He gives her a hug and she walks off as if nothing happened. She waves to Armina who is riding with her new boyfriend now and runs to the car where her Dad and Henry wait for her. Back in the classroom, Seth is having some fun with his twin. "Hiya little Bro' dinnae look at me as if I kissed yer Lassie. I only hugged her. My heart is with her Sister yer fool. Eva's gaun tae be my Sister-in-law...twice if I look at yer face." Torin shakes his head and looks at Seth. "I ken that douche, but wassit necessary tae hug her so tight and keep yer voice down please. If someone ken aboot my feelings for her, I am fired and she will be expelled even if there isnae prove that we have a relationship. I try my best tae stay clear from her. I see her only in math's and gym class and then at the clinic's gym, as I'm her personal trainer." Seth sits on the side of his table and tells Torin about Mira and his weekend of two weeks ago. He is here to make sure, she still wants to go overseas with him. Then they will have to make plans and tell her parents he already have her a contract. While Torin and Seth go for lunch, Mira is on her way to Baine's office. Seth is coming back today and she wants to settle everything with Baine, for the last time. At his office, his assistant is not at his desk but Mira knows Baine would not mind if she goes straight in. It is lunchtime in anyway. She knocks and she hears sounds coming from his office, sounds like he is in pain. She opens the door and is shocked at what she sees. There on his tummy on Baine's desk with his pants around his ankles is Baine's assistant Stephen and Baine also with pants at his ankles while his assistant Stephen is shouting. "O...more my love, more!" In addition, Baine slaps Stephen's ass and keep on going like a mad man until he looks sideways and sees Mira's shocked face. He lets go of a blushing Stephen and Mira turns away from his aroused naked state. That is something she definitely did not want to see. "Mira I can explain...Love please listen..." She is so angry she wants to scream but she speaks in a very normal tone to him. "Nae, I dinnae want tae listen tae any excuses. Now I realise why ye couldnae even bring yerself tae kiss me properly. Ye ken, all ye needed tae dae, was tell me ye preferred men and I would hav let ye gae without even a fight. So here..." She takes of her ring and puts it on the table. "Take yer ring and stay away from me. It is over. Now ye can live yer lie on yer own..." He looks frightened and scared and she knows what he is thinking. She does not care, he can worry about who is going to know about his double life, it will surf him right. "Bye Baine, hav a nice life with Stephen." She is out of his office and out the building in a few seconds. In her car she sits for a moment before she starts to laugh. She is still laughing when she enters the apartment building where Seth has an apartment when he is in Scotland. She cannot wait to tell him and her parents later tonight. During dinner, Mira decides to come out with her news. "Da, Mother, I decided tae take up a modelling career in Miami Florida. I sold my flower shop and I am leaving at the end of next week. I already hav signed a modeling contract. I caught Baine with his assistant in his office, so I broke off the engagement." Their Mother almost has a heart attack. "Whit! Ar ye crazy, ye cannae dae that? It is gaun tae cause a scandal. All my friends ar waiting for the biggest wedding since Morgan's. Ye just cannae dae that tae me. The shame and humiliation...nae ye cannae. Phone Baine that we can sort this out, it must be a lose woman who seduced him. Cancel the selling of the flower shop immediately..." Mira looks at her Mother and shakes her head. "Nae, I'm nae gaun tae dae it. It is aboot time I dae what I want tae dae, nae what ye want Mother. I am sick and tired of the flower shop; I am tired of yer bullying. I'm leaving and there's nothing ye can dae aboot it, I'm twenty seven Mother and I'm still living with ye and Da because ye dinnae want tae let me gae." Eva sits and listens to everything and looks at her Dad's thoughtful face. "Mildred, calm down and stop screaming like a fishwife. There ar staff around, and they will talk aboot this, and it will be a scandal if everybody ken ye ar a fishwife and nae the proper lady ye want them tae think ye are. Mira, Sweetheart, ye too can calm down now. However, ye ar correct, ye must dae what ye want in life, nae what someone else want or want ye tae be. Just tell me, isnae Baine's assistant Stephen Hauwkens?" Mildred realized what Charles has said and she gasps and sits back down in her chair with a shocked face while Mira tells her Dad precisely how awkward it was when she walked in, on the two naked lovers in Baine's office. Eva cannot contain her mirth any longer, and starts to laugh, until the tears are streaming down her face. Mira looks at Evie and remembers what she said about Baine the other night and she too laughs until her eyes are swimming in tears. Her Mother gets angry but one look from Charles and she refrains from lashing out at the girls. They finished dinner, and Mira says, she still has personal business to finish, therefore she has to leave. Eva, still cannot believe what Baine tried to hide from them all, for more than a year. Her phone beeps and she sees it is a text from Torin.
