Descendant Of the Sun
“Sou-kun, it’s nice meeting you again after a long time.” she smiled playfully showing her white teeth. “I’ve missed you, you know. I know you have forgotten me.” I sensed the sadness in her voice, thought she kept it in a playful tone. “Well, we will soon be meeting in the human world. Maybe if we meet there, you’ll remember me.” I can only see the lower part of her face and her body. I can’t see her eyes, only her lips forming that smile and her small slim figure wearing that Lolita red dress and her long wavy snow white hair that reached down to her waist.
“I don’t get it.” I shook my head frowning. “Who are you again?”
A soft giggle was her response. “You’ll see.” She said and turned her back. “You’ll get your answers when time comes. I shall be going now. Jaa, I’ll see you soon.”
“Wait!” I reached out and tried to hold her hand but her hand went through mine. “How-?!” her figure faded slowly in the dark.
She was looking at me by her shoulder with that smile when she vanished.
I woke in the sound of my alarm clock placed on the drawer near my bed. I hit it with my hand annoyed and opened my eyes to the ceiling of my room. I got out of bed and took my towel and went to the shower. After shower I put the things in need for school today in my bag. I looked in the mirror and fixed my uniform and my hair.
The sun then started to rise and I could feel my senses became more awake and I could feel everything around me. I could smell the food in the kitchen and hear the busy morning roads. It was always like this, ever since I was young. I possess super strength, and sharp senses or animal instincts, and speed, and all of them fully awaken when the sunlight hits my skin, and I feel like growing stronger each morning I wake up. And there are times when I could wield fire, especially when I’m angry. But I learned to control it and decided to keep it to myself. People would surely think of me as a freak.
I went down stairs to get my food and eat breakfast. Then I waved and kissed my mom goodbye before leaving for school. I took the usual morning train and walk from the station to school. Although this is the year 2022 and everything is high-tech where seldom people walk or use bike to go to places, I still prefer walking to school than riding cars or motorcycle, besides I have no money to buy one.
Mr. Fukuwo entered the room and greeted us and made a few announcements before starting the class. He introduced a new student to our class.
“Kido-san, you may come in, introduce yourself to the class.” He said gesturing at someone out the door. A girl with a long wavy white hair, similar to my silver hair, fall cascades down her shoulders down to her waste. She smiled playfully exposing her white teeth. That smile, where have I seen it? She has icy blue eyes crowned with thick long lashes; her skin white like her hair yet gives a pinkish glow on her cheeks. Every guy in the room stared at her awe. She’s so cute and I can’t deny it.
“Good morning everyone, my name is Kuroha Kido; I hope we all get along.” Her voice was gentle, and sounds familiar.She looked back at Mr. Fukowa and he gave her a seat, which is next to me. Every guy in the room gazed at her, lost in the world, as she walked gracefully across the room to her seat. Kido sat on her chair and gave me the same playful smile, and said hi. That smile again, so familiar, have I seen her somewhere? I smiled back and waved a bit. I looked around and saw them giving me a jealous look. “Lucky for me she sits next to me.” was what their eyes said. I just chuckled and gazed at outside the window like what I usually do.
